I was gone on vacation for a week when we had very heavy rain in MD. When I got back, I had several inches of water on the passenger side floor and under the rear seat! W.T.F?? I thought that there was some leak from the rear window curtain I had installed in June. The trunk was bone dry!

As I was wet-vacc'ing the water out with the top down, I noticed that there was water sitting in the well inside the rear quarter panel. I pushed the vacuum in there too and noticed leaves blocking the bottom drain hole - alas, the source of the flood! After cleaning the drain, I poured water in and it drained properly. Cleaned out the drivers side too. Thus far, it's taken almost 4 days for the carpet to dry out, despite the wet vac and use of shammy's for absorbing the water out of the carpet. Glad it wasn't the top. The lesson learned is to keep an eye on the drain and ensure that it's kept debris-free

 

Another good thing to do for maintenance against water is to blow out the water drains in the weatherstripping. Build up of dirt, dust, or whatever will get in there and slowly close the drains off, like fat in your arteries.

damn! im on vacation now, and i hear Jax has been getting slammed with rain. i hope i dont come home to the same ordeal.

 

Yeah it got STUPID BAD in like 5 minutes today. I go into Winn-Dickme for those 5 minutes and come out to a tropical storm and standing water in my back floor pan

After 4 days, the carpet has finally dried out!

THIS post has been resurrected because I just hope the originator has it subscribed still. I have been freaking out for days because of a puddle that developed in my car, but after researching on this website I found the problem and solution! you just took a huge weight off of my mind thank you!

 

Whats the solution?

 

dug all the crap out of the side well so the hole wasn't blocked and then all the water just came out the bottom

 

I'm glad you found the solution. I clean out the drains several time a year now, especially with all the leaf litter blowing around in the spring and fall.

 

Thanks C-dub, I gotta clean the debris out. My backseats n floor been flooded.

Sorry to bring this up but im having the same problem it leaks like a waterfall in my passenger side, did yalls car leaked where t convertible top and windshield window connect at cause thats where mine is leaking at?

 

If it's leaking right there then it sounds like the weather stripping is all jacked up. check on that, if the rubber parts are all bunched up and icky looking then I suggest prayer

 

If I were you I would pull those seats and that carpet and padding and make sure you don't have any surprises under there (mold) and the carpet gets good and dried out, IMHO

 

Bad weather stripping and a couple of cuts on the conv. top r the reason, time for a new convertible top.
