tinting convertible?
well its winter and im bored so trying to think about spring projects for the car. Just wondering what peoples opinons are about tinting the windows on verts. This is my second one and never did my 91 because it had a plastic back window. The car is silver with black cloth top and ebony leather interior. Im thinking 5%
as its not my DD. I don't think i could go less then 20%.
as its not my DD. I don't think i could go less then 20%. I am in the NE so my car is away. Your car will look great tinted. Imo 20% rear window and 35% for the sides. You can see in but you will be able to see out at night lol. I you want dark 20% all around. You can get tickets for tint but usually you will not get hasseled just for tint. I bet youtube has pics for you.
Wanna get mine tinted too. Probably 15% all around. I am also considering something like 50% on the windshield. Hoping it cuts down on the dash reflection and blocks some UV when it's parked.

I had 35% sides and 15% rear in my old W Body. Wasn't really dark enough for me. Never had trouble seeing at night. I think the 15% on the Fbody would suit my wants/needs. Honestly, the car isn't really driven in the rain - it'd be a situation where I was accidentally caught in it. It's a fair weather car.
I was in the business years ago and tinted many cars. The only cars I would tint the full windshield was for the FBI. It is absolutely illegal and not safe if you drive on the street but it is your car and decision. Probably not what you want to hear sorry. You can tint 3 or 4 inches from the top np. Hope it helps.
Here is a picture of my car with tint... It has 35% on the side windows and 5% on the rear window. It had 5% on all windows when I bought it but I can't find any pictures with that tint. This picture shows the one side you can tell it is darker and then the other side of the car you can tell you can still see out the window with the tint. Only problem I see with the tint is if you choose to leave the windows up with top down but I tend to frown upon that.

In all seriousness, yes, I know it's illegal, but I won't be going very dark on it, and I will research before I do it. I'm not looking to be one of those guys with 15% on the windshield to look like a badass. Someone local to me did their fbody last year. From pics, it's barely noticeable, but just hoping to block some UV when it's parked outside and to potentially cut down on a little glare. I'll check his out in person before I pull the trigger on anything.
Honestly, tinting is kind of pointless for me as I pretty much drive with the top down, or at least the windows. Purely an aesthetic thing. Still want to do it though.
i have 20% on the sides and back of my 97 vert white with hugger orange stripes. i have no problems seeing out at any time day or night. i do have 3m tint which im sure makes a big difference on clarity. also 3m makes a clear film that blockes like 99.9% uv rays. they have been using it in homes for years but i have recently seen it in my local auto store that i use
5% was awesome on my car when I bought it but I decided to take it off because it was a little dark for my taste. I did like how it matched the color of the top. Also was hard to see at night... but that was mostly because of the headlight covers the car has too.
My SS is arctic white with bright white top, I wonder how tint will look on it...
Sure looks great on my NBM RS coupe, however, but that is a totally different look.
