Default Got my vert home in germany!! Zaino pics! 56K Beware!!

Finally I got my vert home ...... the story sounds a little bit crazy....

I sold my 99'TA in Feburary and started my search for a 01-02 Black WS6 M6 vert near Chicago- thats where I wanted to go on vacation in June. So I searched and searched and then... early May I found my dream car on ebay- 2001 WS6 Convertible, M6, Triple Black, TCS, 12CD Changer, Hurst....incl. all the papers from the car and the best, only 3600 org. miles!!! I contact the seller in Ohio and asked him if I can bid on the car as a german- he answerd: As long as you can pay the car within 2 weeks- yes. So I bid on her and won - 22k and it was mine!! I booked a flight and hotel to Ohio for the next weekend, graped my cash and traveld the first time to the US. The seller picked me up at my Hotel and we made the deal perfect. I asked him if I can leave the car in his garage till June when I come for vacation- he agreed, thx again Terry!!

After 4weeks of waiting- real torture, we started our vacation in IL and visit our US friends the first time. After 4 really great days we flyed from Chicago to Ohio and graped my car- my plates already arrived a few weeks before " WS6 VERT". We drived the car from Ohio to NJ to the port and stayed then 4 days in NY until we flyed back. Then again waiting....on July 17 she arrives in Bremerhaven- no dents or scratches and everything was still on/in the car, even the tank was still full with the cheap US gas!!

I can drive 4weeks now with US plates before I must get the car to the inspection for the german registration.

But enough now- here are the pics after I zainoed her this weekend-

I was wondering, what do the germens think about american cars, like ur TA, Camaros, and Vettes? Do they like them or snub their noses at them while driving in a BMW?

Thats so cool that you have your car over there. It looks great and I'm sure it gets plenty of attention.

Thx guys!

To drive a WS6 in europe is like to drive an UFO- all people turn there heads, everyone looks when you parked it. We don't have many US cars here in europe because of the high gas prices- so they are very rare. GM europe only sells the 98-02 Camaros so the only way to get an 98-02 Firebird/TransAM is to import one by your self.

Many germans like US Cars but most of them thinks that US cars are still big gas guzzler- like in 70's. I need 13l/100km so my TA is better on gas then the most porsche.

Hey that's awesome man. That car looks hot. It's for a good reason that it's a head turner. Congrats on all your hard work.

How does that work? I mean how did you get U.S. plates if you don't live here? Gorgeous car.

keliente- Thats why we german call the US " The land where everything is possible"BTW your country+people are awesome!! - in germany it's impossible to register a car without living here- it's tough enough to get a US car registerd as a german . My name and german adress are inserted in the US title .

Again thx @ all- we have a big US car meeting this weekend and I will put on another coat of Z2.

Thats awesome, I'll bet that car attracts more attention than a Ferarri over there.

Now order some go-fast parts and really scare the locals

You need to keep that Ohio plate on the front. Maybe you'll set the trend over there, kind of how the VW and BMW guys over here put the Euro plate on theirs.

Car looks flawless btw, very nice.

Beautiful car man.

Looks immaculate. Probably the cleanest black T/A I've ever seen.

Ruhrpott,

I remember your first posts about getting a TA, awesome to hear that you recieved it safely. (I packed my TA with my dad and brother along with my other cars and boats in a few containers so I knew there was no way it was going to be more secure, but what really scared me was when we heard that a tornado at Miami had flipped over a few containers... Arrived safely though ).

One thing that really bothers me here is getting parts, I believe they are easier to obtain in Germany though.

Charging TA,

it's not a big deal to get spare parts here in Germany- try www.cars-stripes.com very good shop with fair prices! But I'm not sure if they ship outside germany- just ask them, this guys are ok!

When I need special parts I order them in the US- most of the time I get them within a week or two.

SWEET car (I'm kinda partial to triple-black 6M WS6 'verts myself ), and quite the feat to have it in Germany! Congrats!
