Default Lightening a vert?

Does anyone have any good ideas on taking some weight out the the vert cars? And why are these cars so heavy? Whats there? I took my car to the track for the first time ever, it was a hot night probably 85 degress and the humidity was horrible. These times were also on a full tank of gas(i didnt plan on racing the car that morning when I filled up)I was shocked nonetheless...

rt. .773 2.311 60' 13.777@105.47
.427 2.477 14.074@103.65
.458 2.272 13.719@104.55
.529 2.287 13.813@103.67
I know, I know, the rt's sucked big time, this was my first
Any ideas on lightening the load anyone? Other than spare tire and jack?

Does anybody know how much more the convertibles weight? With that huge hatch and giant piece of glass in it that the coupes have, I heard that the converts are only about 70 lbs more.

taws6m6, don't worry about your R/T unless you plan on racing in a program - it doesn't affect the ET. What you should be looking at are your 60' times - those are what you need to work on! You need to get those down under 2.0. Three words for you: Practice, Practice, Practice!

Convertibles weigh approximately 130 pounds more than the coupes. The top motors and extra parts to keep the rigidness of the car add the extra weight.

13.406@106 13.53@105 13.43@107 I knew the vert had more in her!! I am going back this weekend and am gonna take the spare tire and jack, and i dropped a hitch that I used for towing a jet ski a few yrs ago. Maybe a 13.30? Not bad for a vert with lid and loudmouth huh?

Uh, no one going to chime in with the K member /control arm, after market set up will shed a few pounds off the nose. Do a battery relocation to trunk/spare tire well (light weight race type battery), remove rear seat/passenger seat, put in racing seat for driver, sound deadener, light weight carpet kit, go to the gym, carbon fiber driveshaft, light weight rotors/calipers, remove airbags, remove a/c (its a convertible), Carbon fiber hood/ trunk lid, run open headers eliminate the entire exhaust system...and sooo much more.

For all his mods listed, he still has stock manifolds and was running in warm humid air. 2.3 60' time was the killer for ET.

Not a question of HP, but of the stall. A 4000 stall and drag raidals will drop an 02 into the mid 12s. Headers, lid and pulley and cut-out and you are borderline 11s in good weather.

If we are talking about an 07, you need some big HP mods.

. I am just getting into racing. I forgot to mention that was on some bald *** kumhos. I just toasted the spec clutch. Thats okay, I just had the shittiest one they made. I spent all of my 9" $ on purchasing a mcleod street twiin. And i will hopefully have some drag radials coming in in about a week or so. I am trying to cut down on my 60 ft. times right now. Still undecided on which radials to go with. Leaning towards the 555r's. I need a tire that hooks well and i can still drive on everyday. I am gonna murder the 10 bolt next time i go to the track!

The nittos served me well when the car was bolt-ons, but I was an A4 when i raced the car. First 8000 miles they're still safe in the rain (if you aren't at the track every weekend) and haven't melted off all the tread.

My 2000 T/A vert. weighs 3560# w/o me in it. With gears and a 3200 stall w/supporting bolt-ons, I beat my friends'02 Z06. My 12.78 to his 12.9x. I did run drag radials.
