vararam installed / check engine light on
getting codes 0171/0174. This show that banks 1 and 2 are lean. Does this mean i need a tune or do i have a air leak somewhere? I have put 100-200 miles on the car and the light/codes just showed up today. I have cleared the codes out twice now. I clear the code out, drive the car, turn it off and as soon as i restart it i get the above codes.

Yeah I say you probably got a leak. I would also disconnect the battery for a few mins to see if that helps reset the codes (after you clear them, maybe it will keep them off) I dont know if that works on the Vette.

Did the idle relearn today (pulled fuses 16/23) and drove the car a lot today. No codes/check engine light on. The car still has the stuble/bucking at low rpm, light throttle, and slowing down. Everything is tight and can not find any leaks. I am going to hold off on the tune until i get the long tubes.

i removed the inlet tube and maf again and tighted everything down tight! It helped but did not fix it. I think it is leaking around the TB. I am ordering vararams new power duct today. I hope that it helps. If not i can live with the small bucking until spring when the headers/tune go on the car.

The MAF and PCM should be able to compensate just fine for the extra air flow from the Vararam. The LTFT take a while to settle down after a 'big' change to intake air flow. That is why there are called long term fuel trims. I am still betting that you have a leak somewhere, have been running lean for a while, and no the computer is throwing the codes.

Amazing !! No codes ever after my install. I started it up after the install was complete, drove her around normally for 10 miles or so then hit the expressway to go fast see if there was any kind of difference. Seemed like she pulled harder up top then before.
I really hope you get your issues resolved. Just sucks when a simple install creates issues.

Good news is the bucking is gone and the car drives perfect.
Bad news is the damn check engine light is back.
I DID THE IDLE RELEARN, TIGHTED EVERYTHING DOWN, CHECKED MY FILTER, TUBES, ETC. EVERYTHING IS TIGHT. AND CLEARING THE CODES OUT ONLY LAST FOR ONE OR TWO STARTS. LOOKS LIKE I MAY HAVE TO GET IT TUNED TO KEEP THE CODES AWAY.
