I agree that you really can't go wrong with buying a GS now. But if you're trying to keep up with the Jones', you do need to wait almost exactly 2 years. You could buy now and trade later. A 2012 GS (if bought today) would still be worth 35-40K in good condition if you traded in for a new C7 when they came out.
Personally, I'm not going to touch the first year C7. As with every generation since the C4, the first year has either been a total let down or has had some big issues. I'll wait.

But the Z06 and of course the ZR1...but somethin' about the GS really takes me the opposite direction.
I'm very excited to see the C7!!!!

I not a huge fan of the GS either, but those LS3 hold there own if modded well. But like what was already said I would personally get a 08 Z06 (as 06-07 had some issues) as you can find them for around the same price as a new GS.

I'd say that the GS is for people who can't afford the new Z06, wants a removable top, likes the looks of the GS more and/or *MIGHT* want an automatic.
I'd rather have the Z06 because I could care less about the removable top and I drive manuals.
