Default c5 corvette What CAI should i buy??

Hey guys first time posting in this section i am going to be buying my father a cai for christmas for his 2004 c5 vette that has corsa catback and stock everything else. It has 32,000 miles on it and.just begging for more power.

My ultimate question is what will be the best bang for my buck? K&n cai's are just dandy for chevrolet pickups but i want the the coolest looking with most power. Hopefully i can stay under 450$ but if its more for the ( do it right the first time) i will.
Later down the road will be a nice set of long tubes and orx with a tune.

Short version what the best cai for 04 c5

Vararam will produce more numbers on the street. Wont notice a gain on the dyno, unless you are simulating a ram air effect on the dyno buy putting HIGH output fans right in front of the ducts. Vararam FTW. Ive put them on every single vette Ive had.

Garret! I have a Breathless Performance Vortex Ram Air intake on my c5, I just put a Veraram on Sean's z06 and I definitely like the Veraram better.

wait until next friday when everything is on sale. get the vararam btw. i skipped the airbidge. fit and finish is not the best. its pretty bad actually. once its in it looks okay though. its a function over form compromise for sure. If you have a screen-less MAF you might need a halltech honeycomb screen to prevent your CEL from coming on. very common on the 04 c5z. not a big deal though. its like 40 or 50 bucks.

i got mine from md speed, but picked up a pcm tune from ecs. i know ecs sells a package with the vararam and pcm mail order tune. might be worth looking into if your dads car has not been tuned yet.

Halltech or Vararam. They both work fine. I used to have a Halltech when I was heads/cam and my buddy had a Vararam. The Vararam is harder to install (more involved). Also get an aftermarket airbridge and coupler if you do the Vararam. The stock accordion is ugly.

The vararam will produce 3-4mph gain in the 1/4 mile. Proven. Countless times.

End of story-

Vararam. Had one. Loved it. Sold it. Then the car sucked. So I bought another one.

I had a Vararam with long tubes.
I sold the Vararam and did the Zip tie mod.
I honestly felt no difference...

"felt" vs actual peformance.

Test both at the track.

VR works.
