Default Heads/Cam/LongTubes Install DONE!!!

It's 11 pm my time, just got back from getting some gas in the car. For a brief update either search my username or cliff notes:

Installed:

TSP Long Tube headers/cut-outs
TSP Torquer V.2 (112 +2)
STOCK heads with PRC Dual Springs/TSP Pushrods/etc
TSP Mail Tune
160 Thermostat

Car fired right up, idles fine, doesn't die even after letting off the throttle from revving. I will post up in more detail with a couple pics tomorrow. There are somethings you guys need to know about the cam and the TSP Long Tubes in case you are thinking of purchasing them. Sorry to make you wait but I am gonna pass out........lates.

How was the TSP long tube install? Did you get the 02 extensions with it? How did it fit?

Ok I will get my pictures and video uploaded, first things first:

I did get O2 extensions for free as part of the deal from TSP. The O2 sensor placement is horrible, they literally grind up against the tunnel brace thingy. Make SURE you put the O2 sensors in FIRST while the headers are loose then bolt them up......I had to redo the headers after discovering there wasnt' enough room to put the O2's in. As for fitment they are AWESOME. Excellent ground clearance, EXCELLENT side clearance. Only thing I can really say is the oil dipstick just kinda chills there.....makes me worried.

As for the cam. I chose to buy a 112 LSA and I can tell you this: Yes it lopes at idle, YES you can REALLY tell it's a cammed car, YES there is some surging, YES there is definitive loss of torque from below 1900, YES you have to slip the clutch a little more from stops, YES I would do it all over again the same. I love the cam, the seat of the pants dyno tells me it's nuts. In 1st gear starting at about 2300-2500 at 3/4 throttle it's just wheel spin. Can't wait to get on the dyno.

Anymore questions feel free to ask, if you want I will jack the car up and try to get SPECIFIC pictures of what YOU guys want. I really want to be able to help any members with their purchasing decisions so ASK AWAY. You also have to cut the stock H-Pipe and I can get pictures of that to show you what is needed.

So I turn it back to you guys.

Do you mind taking a picture of where you had to cut the H-PIPE and how the headers connect to it? Also, can you take a picture of the O2's and how close they are?

Thanks,

Mike

Have you thought about plugging those O2 holes and having new bungs welded in? Are you going to drop the headers every time you need to replace O2 sensors?

Ok, sorry I will get more, I had a coolant line pop off on me mid-way home and it over-heated a lil bit due to the introduction of air in the system so now I am just nursing it back down and trying to get the air out of it. I will get more pics and the video up (warning of crappy quality to come )

Ok here is the H pipe cutting process:

And here is the dip stick issue:

More to come!

HolyShiznit, were you able to keep the cats with that setup? Or are you just not using cats at all?

Everything was apart and ready to be put back together within 48 hours of turning a single wrench on it. Unfortunately there were a bunch of shipping mishaps that spread it out another week and a half. Put it all together within 48 hours as well. So essentially 4 days to do a full heads/cam/longtube swap.

Oh and.....if Johnny Law asks, yes I have cats.

Good job.

A solution for the dipstick problem is to get a new dipstick tube and the bolt that attaches it to the head for a 02 C5.

I don't know what year it changed but I have a 02 ZO6 and my dipstick tube is bolted to the head.
