Default C6 Z06: are the deals still elusive?

my neighbor picked up a black C6, got it for invoice plus $1,000.....i returned to my local dealers to see if I could do same on a Z06, they basically laughed me out of the showroom.....same story as a few months ago when i was shopping for same.

anyone seeing deals start to be more reasonable on the Z06? these knuckleheads out here want MSRP plus 10 grand.

My local dealer sold a black Z06 for 71k (delivered) I believe the sales manager told me? This was the higher trim one with all the little goodies/options. This is out in the North West.

The Chevy dealer where I bought my C6 from has two C6 Z06s on the floor, one black and one DSOM. They were asking $97,000 for the DSOM one, I asked my sales guy why, and he said "they're hot cars right now, they're the best available", to which I replied, "ever wonder why you have not one but two of them sitting on your showroom floor when most dealers can't keep them instock"? He said without acually saying that it was a decision made by the higher-ups, and that he too felt they were crazy.

They had a $25,000 "market adjustment" on it, lol.

I've heard from several sources that the best chance of getting one at a "reasonable" price is to order one, not buy one from dealer inventory. There are supposedly a couple of Chev dealerships in San Antonio, TX selling for MSRP. Wish I had $75K to spend on a car

agree, i didnt want one that was already on the ground so i did offer to place a deposit and order one but still the price was msrp plus 10K.

i wont give up, well, unless a better car becomes available that is (ie: an LS7 Camaro).

there is a list over on the corvetteforum of dealers with Zs in stock....some are just a couple grand over MSRP last time I checked for a buddy.

You have to be crazy to pay over sticker for a C6...lots are full of them...

There are dozens of Z06s at dealers...for the most part they want big bucks...but there are a few that may deal for a few thousand over MSRP...there is a list over there. Anyhow you can call them and ask.

There are TONS of C6s around...local dealers here have had theirs since last fall...sat outside all winter long...

oh yeah the regular C6's are available walk-right-up and take your pick out here in CT and MA and RI...but not the C6 Z06.....i am specifically looking to order one, i do not want one that the dealers have pawed all over, farted in, and used a dry-duster on.

now the deal of the century are the dozens of C5 Z06's out here for sale, oh my god, i am talking 25-35 grand for low mileage one-owner C5 Z06's....used C5's? try 15-20 grand and you got 100 to pick from locally.

this depreciation insanity is the reason i will not pay much more than invoice for any new Vette as tough as it is to walk away from an incredible car i can afford even at msrp plus 10. call it pride or stubborness.

CONNECTICUT thanx for the assist, take pix of the exhaust install if you can.

Since they only made 700 of them, C6 Z06's are rare. Plus it's the first year of the new generation, so that compounds the dealer's desire to mark the cars up.

___________

The 2006 Z06 planned production is somewhere around to 5000 units.

Well, I really want one bad, but the price is just to high for me, in fact I could probably reach the moon first! Okay, that was an over statement, but I was cool, just seeing them ever now and then on the road/highway, but a junior officer in my building had to buy the BLACK/BLACK model and I have to see it almost everyday, now I am really wanting it!

I still think that they are the best bang for the buck sportscar out there and yes I am favoring my CHEVY!

If they are claiming to only have made 700 of them why do I see a truck load of new Vettes on the interstate almost everyday? Every truckload has anywhere from 2 to 5 new Zs onboard. I wish I would have started counting them. They only made about 1500 of the 89 TTAs and I dont remember seeing any of them on a truck.

I was schecking them out on ebay(that is okay to say right?) yesterday, and there was a beautiful lemans blue one with polished wheels. It came frome a dealer in Maryland if I remember right. The guy wanted 83000.00 and he showed a pic of the window sticker and it showed 68,890.00. He said the weren't going to make any Z06's next year and lemans blue is a RARE color. I don't know how true any of that is, I'm sure it's not becouse its coming out of the mouth of a dealer. Regardless if any of that is true I think its ridiculous how bad they mark up these cars. Why do they do it? I personolly cant even afford a regular C5 but hey I dream right.

thats is so stupid. these dealers are what mess up manufactures numbers. they would have probably sold double if it wasnt for them. cant you order one from the factory, instead of a showroom car? they cant add the markup to those. if they are still in production i guess.

yeah i wish we could just deal direct with GM but to my knowledge that cant be done for us regular customers we have to go to an authorized dealer. and i agree that the greed from the dealers on the Z06 is in some small way hurting GM because the crazy markup only benefits the local dealer not GM. $25,000 profit to some schmuck dealer for filling out a form and making 8 mouse clicks? while GM sees less than 1/10th of that in profit for designing and building the car?

and the Ford dillweeds arent any more honest they want crazy markups for the Shelby. and of course they did the same on the GT. thats why none of those cars are in my garage.

so now are we going to see a 25k markup on the 2007 Hemi Challenger? you bet.

i got two LS1 f-bodies for invoice plus $100......now thats fair.

Waah.

All dealers of all makes do markups, thus you have to really look around. The new Z06 is so hot that folks will pay 10k over stick to get one...

Yep, order one and they'll sell for that price. Don't go trying to buy one at a showroom unless they're close to MSRP.
