Default GTS or SRT10

Hi guys..I decided to ask you a guestion here cas i no you'd be non biased..Plus many vette guys are planning on getting a viper as there next ride and some of you have probally already been thinking about the question Im about to ask.

I recently wrecked my 99rt10 viper. She was my pride and joy and was puttin down 450/500 SAE with a few bolt ons and tune.

the damage seemed very minimal..But a new hood alone was 17 grand installed and painted..total Damage was 32K and they said the car was worth 38K so it's a constructive total..Reguardless the car is gone.

So now Im about to get another one..

The choices are 2001-2002 ACR Viper for 45-55 grand

VS

2003-2004 SRT10 for 50-60 grand

The ACR dynos around 420 rwhpand the SRT10 dynos around 450 rwhp..But the ACR has smaller tires by an inch in the back making the rear gears pulla lil harder..

Point is that they both seem to run 11.9-12.2 at 118-122 mph bone stock in the 1/4 mile with decent drivers. As well they both top out around 186-191 mph. So speed wise there about the same..

So they cost about the same and there about the same through the 1/4 mile. My question is wich one would you rather be drivin..

Wich one is better to you????

Thanks

Noone can really answer that for you, if performance is the same then thats not a factor, so appearance and price would be the determining factor, and only you know what you like

$17,000 for a new hood.....****!!!!!!!!!

I love the GTS viper's. Blue & white or Red & white. The SRT10s do nothing for me.

I'll NEVER own an SRT10. Bland.

The GTS is something I'd pay for though...

I like the GTS, but I also like the idea of a newer car.

Looks alone, the GTS would win hands down!

Try asking this over on the Viper forum and see what kind of answers you get. Probably more would say the ACR because the SRT10 appears to not be as well regarded by them. I like the SRT10 and the interior is way better IMO too. Why not look at an 06 SRT10 coupe if your in the $60k's anyway?

Man I'm sorry to hear about your car. I know what it's like to lose a vehicle you love and have poured a ton effort into. To me it's tough. I like the look of the ACR, but the SRT10 from what I have been hearing is a much more livable car. Tough choice.

I don't care for the SRT10's... they're okay, not my cup of tea I guess.

I'd go ACR, no second thoughts.

To me the GTS looks much better as well..But already owning a 99rt10 ( wich the front half f the car as well as the interior is 100% identical to a 2002 GTS) I know that the SRT10 has a MUCH BETTER interior...

As well 502 CI is better than 488 CI any way you slice it...

THERE are NUMEROUS final addition american club racer ( FE ACR )GTS's for sale on ebay..many for right around 50 grand with very very low miles...

On the other hand 50 grand for the SRT10 gets you a bottom of the barral 2003 with 20K miles on it....

Sp pay 50 grand and have the best of the gen 2's or spend 50 grand and have the lesser of the gen 3's????( but still an gen3 srt10 is a better overall performer than the top dog gen 2 ACR)

So far all of you picked the ACR hads down. Ill defiently keep this in considerstion..THANKS

I also like the GTS better looks wise.
But honestly I would probably end up buying the SRT10 for a couple reasons. First like you said it'll at least be different from your last one, the interior will be nicer, and in five years you'll still be driving a Viper with a new(er) look to it over the 1st gen Viper's skin.
Just my .02, but you can't go wrong either way.

GTS, never liked the SRT-10. And I like the older body style than the new one.

You see this is kinda why im leaning towards the SRT10 as well...

I loved my 99rt10 and thought they and the GTS looked BAD A$$...But I could sometimes see the age of the vehicle when compared to my friends C6Z06 or E55AMG..You could tell it was a 90's car. One of the badest lookin cars made in the 90's but never the less...

If I just spend 50K on a 5-15 K mile SRT10 ( still brand new in my eyes) then no one will be able to tell if i have a 2003 or 2006..As well the 2003 and 2008 look nearly identical besides the hood and rims..And honestly the 2008's hood and rims dont look that great.

So it would look like im drivin a newer viper for atleaste a few more years till they change the styling..

I defiently cant afford a new 75-90K Viper so the SRT10 would get the job done

Well dosn't sound like money is a factor between the two options. I love the look of both srt/10 and gts. Looks wise i'd take the gts, just has that classic timeless viper look. Srt/10 will be a bit faster than a gts but not enough to make it anything but a driver's race. However where the srt/10 really separates from the gts is on the road course. Gts just plain isn't going to touch it and unless you get a '01, 02' gts with abs that gap widens. -Jim

well every one here will keep getting the votes for the ACR regardless. We are not going to be the ones driving it you are...I kinda get what youre saying about the old and new factor. The way you see it is like putting it this way to us "06 Corvette coupe or(lets say) 99 Corvette coupe" well of course my vote is going for the 06 because its newere,6.0L,you will be the one how poeple say youre driving the new vette till body changes,Improved,Better car overall...so yeah I get what youre saying in that case now that I put it that way my vote changes for the 03 instead. What ya think?Do you still have the same vote?
