I am sure this question has been asked before, I did a brief search and nothing popped up.. i wasn't sure exactly what to type in the search bar though.. anyways.. i am wondering what differences there are between the c5 z and the coupe.. i am a huge fan of the targa and to the best of my knowledge the z doesn't come with that option? Thanks a lot!

honestly, not too much from what i'm aware. the engine gets 50 more hp from an upgraded cam and heads, you get better rotors and more aggressive brake pads, wheels, tires, and little stiffer suspension.
differences are minimal compared to the c6 z51 and the c6 z06.

Weight, suspension, transmission, shot-peened rear-end gears, cam, cylinder heads, exhaust, factory tune, etc.
Totally different animal. Low 12 second car compared to low 13 second car stock vs. stock.

Z's are a complete diffrent beast than a coupe. Its really amazing the diffrence in power, feel, handling vs even a modded coupe vs. a stock Z. I have a stock Z, dad has a intake/LT/catback coupe, that also has z06 sway bars and bilstien shocks. My car rides and drives much smoother than his did stock, handles a lot better than his car does modded, and the Z pulls quite a bit harder.
The car is an entire package meant to perform. Thats what the car does, in every single way. I've drove my dad's coupe hundreds of times. I still am amazed at how much of a beast this car is compared to his. If you want everything the Z can do, (accelration, and handling, and weigh a bit less) then your going to spend as much or more money on a coupe if you buy one for a few grand less. Then you still don't have a Z.
You still don't have firm feeling you get from FRC either, in a coupe.
Now if your building a straight line only car, a cheap FRC is the way to go. But if your building a straight line car, buy a fbody.

There are quite a few differences like they have stated but I love the targa top. I am not so hard core that I will notice the less performance for having the targa top but I would miss going topless on a nice day. Stock vs stock Z06 hands down is a better car but when you start modding them both in my opinion the lines become blurred. I bought a coupe cause I knew I would mod the **** out of it. I done personally like the lines of the Z06/FRC nearly as much as the coupe so the decision was easy for me.

Honestly, go for a test drive of each. I think you'll know which one you like right away. Good luck with your decision. Best part of this equation is if your choices are between a C5 coupe and a C5Z06, is that whatever you decide, you can't lose. Both are phenomenal vehicles with tremendous potential!

The best part about the Zo6 is the M12 tranny.
Every gear is shorter (including reverse) except for 4th (1:1 ratio)
BTW, ironexecutioner if you say that you searched and couldn't find the answer... that makes you a F#cking LIAR!!!! This topic has been covered countless times in the last year alone.... call me on it and I'll post the threads...

i dont doubt that it is there, but after reading through a few threads, i got bored and decided to just post.. figured it was easier than trying to narrow down the threads that contain things about c6 and other stuff.. dont yell at me!!!!

just like Doc T said. test drive each one of them. You will know right away which car you will want. It is a night and day differance. power, handling, overall experience is soo much better than the C5 coupe.
