They are ticket bait and race bait.
Cops notice and watch.
So do jack ***** who own slow cars, but think they are fast.
There is some stigma that comes with it. You may hear one or all of the following: your loaded, having a midlife crisis if 50, your parents bought it if 25, a jerk, or overcompensating.
All that having been said. They are absolutely worth it. The C5s are performance bargains that are highly capable in almost all areas.

I absoloutly agree with everything he said. When I got my first Vette, all I herd was mid life crises. When I got the second one I herd over comp. jerk, and loaded. Now with the C5 I'm hearing Mid life crisis again. Why do even some car guys make comments like these. I think the people who come up with this crap just don't understand that there are some folks who just love cars and gear head stuff.
Just enjoy in the thought that you're driving America's Sports Car as they go back to their Mini Van!

By the way, I have nothing against mini vans if that's what you drive, but me personally, I'd ride a bicycle before I'd buy one! That's just me though!

I never hate! Especially on Vette guys.. I know how you felt before you got yours and I can't wait for the feeling and experience that my first will bring, here in the next month or so.

Later model Corvettes were never designed for drag racing.
Lots of people use things for purposes that they were never intended to do and as such, you have to deal with the consequences.
If that much of a hard core drag racer put in a solid rear axle and be done with it.

I think the main thing would be the "cheap" interior. I guess the C6 has addressed that nicely. Also it's the best sports car value on the planet! Whats not to like?

My dislike:
I'm about 5'8", and it's not comfortable adjusting the seat so that I can fully work the clutch. I have to move the seat almost all the way forward, and then my knees hit under the steering wheel.

Every car has its flaws.
Every car has areas that need some improvement.
The bottom line is that the C5 is a great car. Mine makes 570 rwhp and gets 25 mpg. I have autocrossed it, road raced it and drag raced it. It does great with all three. Race on the weekend and then drive to work on Monday.
What other cars can you say all this about?

main CON i've found is that the interiors suck. it looks like a damn cavilear inside.
another one would be all the waxers that own them.
Lots of pros to owning a z06 though. they far outway the cons IMO

The interior is cheap (but very functional ergonomics wise). The stock shifter is a turd. The seats need to be better. The leather should be better. Some people do make assumptions based on the car. And the cup holder is pathetic. Some parts suffer the Vette tax.
I still love the car. It's light (3170 wet). In most respects it's easier to work on than an F-body. It handles excellent. I love the looks of it. And I can fit in it (I'm 6'1 about 230) unlike the Porsche's I have sat in. Now I just need a wideband and time to tune it.
