Tires ??
Jimbo
RED99LS1TA, you said the wide ovals are junk and you now have the V's. Both of those are in my choice bucket, can you elaborate on the differences and strengths/weaknesses of each tire? Let me through this at you, I have a friend who owns a firestone garage and can get me a set of wide ovals for 450. Would they be worth it for that price? Or would you still recommend the V's. Also how much do the V's run for a set?

if you are buying retail vs retail, vredesteins all the way. you can get a set of v's shipped for about 770 from a couple vendors on corvette forum, or there is another store that sells em online(pm if you want the name) they were 189 per rear and 147 per front when i bought them plus shipping which would have been cheaper had i purchased all 4 at the same time. they are great in the rain, they hook from any kind of roll even with decent power(see mods) you will blow them off from a dead dig, but even a slow roll will be fine. great all around tire. its not a track tire, but its not designed to be.
the wide ovals dont hook worth a dang, suck in cold weather, suck in warm weather, suck in the rain, suck at the track... suck everywhere except daily driving like a granny and tread life. and they still arent that great. but for 450? id get em regardless.
I liked them better than Goodyear gsd3's I had before, and I won't even mention the perelli's
.Nitto doesn't make the 555's any more, try the nt01, which rocks for the track (ones with turns). Just like the toyo ra1 aren't produced anymore they have the r888.
I looked at the v's but never bought, good to know people like them. One thing to consider is weight. Some cheeper tires weigh 5 lbs more per tire. I know the T1r's were super light, had a great lip protection for the rim, and a super stiff sidewall.
How many mile have you gotten on your tr1's? I am going to need a new set for summer. Also how much and where. Thanks Mike F.
Good, but not as good as the Michelin Pilots I had....
Driven on Wide Ovals in some of the Zo6's that pass through here, they are a step down from the Toyos...
Kumhos suck. Period.
