Make your own ZR1?
The new ZR1 is awesome don't get me wrong but way overpriced. Would be priceless to see a S/C C5 spank a ZR1 on the street or track.

Just like there's more to the Zo6 compared to the base C6...
After driving a new C6 Zo6 I'd take it over a procharged C6 anyday... and I'm willing to bet I'd take a ZR1 over ALL as well.
This is coming from a guy that used to drive around in a Twin Turbo Firehawk... a stock C5 Zo6 was even better. Go figure.
Now if you wanted to upgrade every part to match or exceed the ZR1 then now your talking. You could probably make something very comprable to the ZR1 in nearly every aspect for a lot less money.
Damn... I need to get home!

If you want to compare a well engineered engine and drivetrain upgrades to "slapping on" a procharger to get a "Peak HP" number.. you're nuts
The point is that the integration of all components is worth more than just the sum of individual parts.

[/QUOTE]I agree with you. I have a heavily built '99 SS with 500+ rwhp on the motor and an extra 150 shot just for fun. The f-bodies and the Z06's are a complete different class of car. I love both cars for their differences. The f-bodies are great for their rough around the edges performance...especially when modded. The Z06 is an incredible package period. I can honestly see why most guy/girls don't mod their Z06's! Save for the sick and twisted individuals like myself, the Z06 is more than enough car. I can't help but mod cars...it's what I do. The Z06 is an amazing drive even stock.
The ZR1 S/C will give some amazing low end TQ, but a set of headers and a good cam puts the Z06 performance up there in the 4000 - 7000 rpm band where races are won and lost. Of course, its not 50 state legal like a ZR1.

BOSS APPROVED!
