Default LG Pro Headers or American Racing?

I'm trying to pick some headers out for my C5Z. I have read great things about both systems but from what I can tell this is the difference.

LG Pro: Great for midrange, good auto-x/road race header.

American Racing: Great for top end, good drag racing header

I know both of them have great build quality. I just can't make up my mind. I just want the one that will get me down the 1/4 faster, which I think is ARH.

Any opinions? BTW I am going with the off road X-pipe.

Well what RPMS will you be spending most of your time in ??

Peak RPMS or lower and mid RPMS. I am going to guess the latter and strongly suggest you get the LG Pro Longtubes. I have a set and love em'. Sound great, fit perfect, no issues in over 3 yrs.

I guess I don't buy into the hype like some. ARH are just like Kooks headers, but are $400 more. Save yourself some $$ and get the kooks. Just my .02

But to answer your question. Flip a coin, there both good.

Yes I agree with this but the "only" time I go fast is at the track, meaning peak RPM.

I want the power to count down the strip, I don't care about the mid range and lower RPM because the car only spends a split second there on the launch and that's it.

If your top priority is 1/4 mile, it's a no-brainer to go with the 1 7/8" American Racing Headers.

Both are great systems, just with different strengths.

Wouldn't more avg power be better for the track then a few extra peak ?? Just asking not trying to start anything.

LG Pros are tough to beat. If you are dropping a cam in and shifting at 7K, the 1 7/8" headers might have some advantage.

Isn't 1 7/8" too big for stock cubes?

I do plan on adding a cam (and maybe heads?) sometime in the future.

I would rather have power from 5-7k than from 3-5k.

I recommend the LG Pro's, but I've had to go back and touch them up from some tabs popping off leaving 2 small holes. Are you going straight pipe 1 7/8ths? If so, you'll lose some mid range torque, but I felt some slightly greater very-top end throttle response.

Borla makes the LG Pro headers.

Edelbrock...does anyone seriously use their stuff still?

I run ARH 1 7/8 on my 403 and the fit and finish is perfect. I also had a truck drop a head-size rock right in front of my car and I had to run over it. I crushed 2 primaries. Nick at ARH made up just the drivers side for me so I didn't have to buy a whole set. He's a great guy to deal with. I don't know that anyone else would do that.

Ive had to do that twice already as well. Just have to weld the hell out of those tabs.

I think after this thread and some searching I am going to go with ARH...everyone I've talked to says they have the best fit/finish of any other header out there.

Can anyone recommend a good place to purchase these headers?
