Question Question Ran my H/C LS1 for the first time. 1/8 mile. MPH low for mods?

Temp was about 45 degrees. We are at about sea level here in Detroit.

Mods are in sig.

My 2 good passes

Run 1:
1.79 60'
7.8 @ 87

Run 2:
1.82 60'
7.9 @ 87

No front sway bar. Tires are 315/35/17 NITTOS @ 15 PSI... Little spin

Is my 1/8 mile MPH low for my mods?

Thanks

The mph is pretty low. I trap 90-91 with less mods

They car hasnt had any data logging tuning done at all. The only tuning done for this car was in the driveway.

Im not a tuner, but do you think my low MPH would be from the tune not being correct?

yea, a tune being off will effect it... have you adjusted shift points at all.. if not id guess thats where your problem lies.

I run 20psi in the same tires. Maybe the low air pressure is creating some drag on the top end too. I trap 91mph with a smaller cam and smaller stall.

I ran same tire at 13 psi and went 93 through the 1/8th and 115 or 116 through the 1/4....7.4 and 11.6 respectively. h/c, bolt on, 3600 stall best 60' was a 1.69 on stock suspension and 3.23 gears.

Might wont to consider a dyno tune; just my 2. BTW my slowest run of the day was a 7.6 and 11.8 with a 1.77 60' same air pressure.

How are you leaving the line? I found that launch close to 3000 netted my best time, instead of flashing like i normally do.

good luck,

Pride

My launch method was going from Idle to WOT when the light turned green. I only got 3 runs and didnt have time to practice other styles of launching.

I did have some wheel spin though.

Is my 1/8 mile MPH low for my mods?

Thanks
When I had the totally stock 92K mile engine in my car with just headers and LS1 intake never taking the valve covers off it ran 7.533 ET at 89.14 MPH with 1.55 60 foot times, at that time my car weighed 3,665 lbs and had 3.70 gears so I would say your MPH is low and something is wrong!

I went back and found a time slip where I had a 1.802 60 foot and it ran 7.94 ET at 87.91 MPH for comparsion!

Good luck on finding the problem!

......?

if honestly nothing else, that is the fastest ls1 i have ever seen with those mods... i ran a 7.5@90 with ms4 90/90 410s 4k stall 3250 raceweight.... granted it was in 90 degree weather.. but still..... Fing sick times man...

did it run that consistent or was that like a really cold day.. i guess what im asking is if it ran hat year around or what... DA?

Thanks it did run pretty good before I changed to the new engine last spring! To answer your question. The person that started the thread said he was at the track when it was 45 degrees and at sea level. So I went back and found time slips for a similar day!

The times I posted above were in December 2006 at the House of Hook in Jackson SC and the DA was really good that day!

The 7.53 pass resulted in an 11.944 1/4 mile ET at 111.17 MPH.

Most of the time the car ran consistent high 7.6's all the time.

The best pass before that day was at Brainard where it ran a 7.60 ET.

What I want to know is how you got the race weight down that much! Are you saying that is with you in the car? If I had that race weight I could be running 10.50's NA now instead of 10.75.

On a side note I went to Bowling Green last saturday and posted a new PB MPH of 124.14 NA with my current setup 346 CI engine. I posted the video in my thread Good 3,000 RPM lauch photo in the drag racing results.

Anyway I hope Droptop finds out what the problem is!
