Default Better traps, just couldn't hook...

I ran at the local Import FaceOff event today since TnT got rained out Friday night.

Car FELT good and PULLED good. In fact, I beat my previous best mph by more than 1.5 mph in worse air. Hit my first 116 mph pass, btw.

I just never 60' footed better than a 1.791, which might as well be a 1.8 60'.

I think all the FWD street-tired cars at the event probably ruined the prep, considering that I got there two hours after they opened, and I never saw them re-prep the track.

Breakdown:

2.006 5.325 8.036 @ 91.04 10.365 12.334 @ 114.43
2.225 6.426 9.291 @ 87.57 11.686 13.691 @ 112.59
1.883 5.060 7.723 @ 91.84 10.015 11.954 @ 116.03
1.905 5.008 7.759 @ 92.25 10.064 12.011 @ 115.68
1.902 5.171 7.852 @ 92.42 10.160 12.113 @ 115.69
1.791 4.946 7.611 @ 92.18 9.919 11.875 @ 115.10

Since I ran my previous best, here's what's been done:
-Switch back to stock TA with Relo mount
-Homemade Ram-Air
-LCA Relo Brackets
-Dropped 158 lbs out of the car
-Greg Weld skinnies

I don't feel TOO bad, after all I ran a 11.87 with an almost 2 tenths worse 60' than last time.

I plan to hit the track again next Sunday if possible. Here's what I plan on changing before I go back:
-Drop LCA back into the lowest hole

Who here thinks that I can hit an 11.5x and get back on the SI List? That's the goal, although I'd like an 11.4x if possible.

Comments? Suggestions?

Just so everyone knows, the DA was an average of 254 ft while I was running, with a low of 166 ft. Hopefully I'll see negative DA's this coming Sunday, along with some better traction.

sweet man that car is making some big power...you got the 11.40s in the bag if you get - da and some traction...I was only pulling 116mph and that was in -900ft if i remember right...you are doing it in + da...

what tires were you running?

This was running 275/40/17 Nitto DR's. I'll be running on them again Sunday. A lot of local guys are blaming my tires, but I don't believe it, I've gone 1.64 on these same tires before, only .04 off my best 60" yet.

I lowered my LCAs down one hole today, and the car already feels better. I guess bottom hole is where they need to be.

Sounds like the car is there, maybe track prep was off a bit or not enough heat in the surface to hold it?

Either way, good luck better the times.

get rid of those nittos...you are not going to get a 11.40s with those...get some 275 MT drag radials...i have pulled 1.400 with them, maybe even get a 1.39 here if the track will ever be open with some -DA...

my dad has nittos doesnt matter what you do they are not the same as slicks or M/T Drag radials...you should be in the low 1.5s with that mph...

my vote is slicks or MT drag radials

Bet.

I would prefer to get some Mickeys, but I don't have the time or spare cash right now. I do have a stock set of 16's that's gonna get SOMETHING sometime in the future, be it Slicks or Radials.

Car is set-up for a radial, I'm consistently .1 slower on the 60' on a bias-ply. Suspension is set-up to hit the tire HARD and plant it. That's why I think I can 60' a 1.5 on a Nitto.

We shall see.

That's the majority of the problem I think. There were a bunch of idiot FWD people dragging water through the box on the way to a 16 second ET, and not enough race cars keeping heat in the track. This Sunday I'm gonna get to the track before they open and take advantage of the prep/heat.

[QUOTE=DOUBT IT;10464554]Bet.

[QUOTE]

Sure what do you wanna bet...

haha break my time, remember i did that off the limiter 3 times on the 1-2 shift and once on the 2-3, so you should be golden...

i am standing by my statement that 11.40s will not be had on nittos...**** i think you might even be the only one on the list using those...thats a record in itself
