Default Rate your 2009 Racing Season!

Since the 2009 season is over or close to shutting down for some (even my local track shuts down for 6-7 weeks for the "PROS" to rent/test), I and decided to add this topic & poll.

So post up and let us know how ya did! Anything you want to share, from:
a new best
to winning a round or two
winning your first race
slapping a friend around in grudge racing
breaking stuff

....well you get the idea.

I managed another great year, although I had my share of bad luck too with losing close rounds. But still more positive than negative

I finally got my Nova back on the street and the track after completing a a 2 year resto/clean-up project. Since I spent the year re-learning plenty of things (including a new engine, different nitrous set-up and using drag radials instead of slicks most of the year), the Formula got regulated to DD duty for my wife all year and didn't see any strip action.

Here are my 2009 race season notes:

-Got my NHRA license in the Nova, including recording a best of 9.96 at 133 mph on a 1.43 60 foot on 275/60/15 M/T drag radials at 3600+ lbs in full street trim!

- Won the 11 second title in True Street at the Super Chevy event at PBIR in March, followed by the win in DOT the next day. Also captured the 11 second title in True Street at the NMCA opener at Bradenton, along with a footbrake win at Gainesville in May.

-Finished in the top ten in points in footbrake at Gainesville.

Okay, I'm done! YOUR TURN! Let's hear it, and don't hold back!

For me it's just some T&T once in a while to check the progress of any lastest mods. I took the advice from the guys in the nitrous section and it helped put me deeper into the 10's with my mild combo. As far as NA I'm now fighting a radom high rpm miss but still sweaked out a few more hundredths.
Next year it's time for a little more head work and slightly bigger cam. Oh, and find out where the miss is coming from.

Year was only second year I took anything to a track but it was great!

First time to the track, I beat a SC Roush stage 3(he spun like hell but I got to the stripe first), then later that I night won a HUGE grude match agains a "90 STANK with a co-worker behing the wheel. The year rounded out with only getting faster and running a 13.4 @ 100 mph, in my 2500 HD.

I am scared because this year went so good I think most years from here on out will be a let down compared to my first but hopefully we can raise the bar!

P.S. Wile it wasn't at the track my sig speakes for it's self!!!!!!!!!!!That was during the 2009 season.

Well, my 10bolt held together the whole year this time!

I finished 7th in points for our et series sportsman class and went to the quarterfinals (6 rounds) at the ET finals

Won my first ADRA bracket race in the pro category this year.

Finally broke down and put a cam in the car for the upcoming season as I am jumping up to Pro

.

Sucked. Stole the engine from one of my cars for another one, because didn't have time to finish.
Family issues ruined the whole year, on & off the track, and we only tested twice.
Which didn't go that great.
As they say, a day racing is still a better day then doing something else!!!

My '09 year was so-so. A lot of tracks/races did not happen this year due to troubling financial times.

Highlights:
#2 Qualifier out of hundreds of cars at the March, Ennis, Tx "Pinks All Out" Event.
Made semi-finals in April at a NHRA Bracket Race at Redline Raceway.
Took home $1G from GMPP at the 3rd LSX Shootout.
Made it through 1 motor all year, thank goodness, cause in '08 we went through 4.

Low Times:
All the trouble I got from some of the LS sponsors when I was sent a manufacturer defective or wrong part. I know times are tough, but some of them need to change if they want to prosper and stay in business. I definetly did not deserve the heartache I got from them this year. (Then they act like a bunch of girls and gossip about me on the "secret sponsor" thread where I have no way to defend myself.) Gotta love the politics on here!

Learning that EVEN THOUGH we all LOVE LS cars, drag racing, etc., some people still want to be hateful, even though we are supposed to be a big loving family who likes the same thing. Competition/trash talking is all in fun, but the "class" has vanished.

Future Plans:
To run 10.00 in the TA in 2010, and attend and win more races.
Become a TT5 car in the next 5 years
Pick up a nice enclosed trailer, so my TA doesn't get ruined from the drives.

Michelle

Well I will start off with the bad, back in March I was at a track rental made around 10 or so passes. Later that day I broke posi, gears, trans and converter......Oh well things happen, time to up grade. I still got a new best earlier that day. Went 11.82@114mph w/ 1.58 60ft. Then after a couple months go by I got everything fixed, went with bigger and better parts. Now the good.....Then around end of October I added a cam...etc and got the retuned. First time out went a best of 11.72, short shifting around 800rpm early. I got that fixed, went back to the track. First pass went 11.44 with 1.55 60', then I decide to hot lap it. Came back around made 2nd pass went 11.370 with 1.49 60ft!... Man I was so happy. Made couple more passes, went 11.39, 11.40, 11.372 and couple more low 11.4 passes. So I started off 2009 bad and ended it with a good. Now my goal for 2010 is a 10.999

Year 2009--- Car was on jack stands from January to September-- taking my sweet *** time on a new h/c swap. Family time comes first, and of course work. It was worth the wait, and time. On November 22nd @ GLD, made a new best on motor with an 11.0 @122. I didn't even expect to go this fast. Previous best was a 11.61@117 in Nov.2008 @ Byron.
Now, the breaks. Broke the stock 10 bolt that same track outing launching with some JUICE! Oh, well...I knew it was gonna go someday.

For the coming New Year: a new rear end definitely. And MAYBE a new set up, I don't know? If I have funds left over from the holidays. I have to talk to my good buddy @ Speed Inc.

09 was a better year for me. Got a new set up last winter new tranny and 370. So it took me a awhile to get the new motor and D.P dialed in with living in the midwest and raining every week.
Ran a new best at lsx shootout a 9.78 @138 mph on juice.
I did lift a head at the end of the year so it in the garage waiting for me to change it. lol

I had a real good year of racing! For the first time I finished in the top 10 in points in Summit Sportsman (footbrake) class at Orlando Speedworld and there are lots of real good racers in Orlando, normally over 100 footbrake cars at each event. I made it to a final round at Orlando and at Lakeland dragstrip but no wins, I did make it down to semi's (4 cars) 5 times along with my 2 final rounds. Also unbeleiveably I had 8 perfect .000 lights this year !! I also have the best looking Fbody at Orlando Speedworld!

Me and my buddy had our grudge races.. I came out on top this season!

Didn't hit my "goal" for the current car, not that it couldn't I just ran out of damn time/money this year.

Next years should be interesting for our "group".

I didnt even get to run, only had the car a year in october, broke a 10 bolt after 3 months of ownership and wasnt even going to touch another 10 bolt. installed a 9 inch 4.56 gears, also headers a x-pipe a dumps spent about $4000 last year on parts hopefully i can spend more this year. trying to get a good running set up for the shootout. Money is the biggest factor, but i will go for broke to run, just in my nature.

Glad it's over, was only able to make 3 passes between 2 cars. Took the 2000 to OSW in January, 2nd pass broke some stuff in the 10 bolt. Shelved that car, started working on the 91'. Made a pass in that, thought I blew through the converter... no such luck. Toasted 700R4. A lack of funds has kept any more racing on hold. Here's to hoping 2010 will be MUCH better.

I voted for Middle of the road, had some good and some bad.

The good-I was in the the finals 3 times. The bad - runnered up all 3 times.

The good -I made 192 passes in 09. The bad - 1st time I have not won a race since 02.

The good - I was in 3 place in track points going into the last race. The bad - I finished in 8th place.

All in all the 09 season was fun. I had great sponsors, friends and family this year.

2010 I hope will bring another N/E(footbrake) Houston Raceway Park Track Championship. I really would like to see my car run a very high 9 second time but most of all get back to winning a race in 2010.

Happy New Year to everyone and good luck in your 2010 racing season.

I voted middle of the road.

My actual racing season sucked!! However, I had fun testing the car and making it faster each and every pass down the track.

I voted My best season of racing ever!

1. I made it threw the entire season with nothing breaking.

2. I ran a NB on motor of 10.92 and I think it has more.

3. I ran in the LTX Shootout modified NA I didn't win but I felt the car performed well in the heat and I was cutting some shitty lights on the pro tree.

4. Went to the track several times when Speed Inc had some reserved lanes for some t&t and some good old fashioned grudge racing.

All in all I thought it was a very fun year.
