Default True Cam Only Times!!

My car is a true street car, cam only! And when I say cam only.....its a true cam only....Stock Bottom End, Heads, Intake, TB etc. My car ran a 11.55 at 117mph pulling the left front tire a couple of inches off the ground .
Heres my setup...

2002 Camaro Z28-Factory auto,t-top,and leather car.
Full weight...heat...air...full interior etc.
Car weighs with me in it 3400lbs w/ 1/2 tank of gas.
Small cam...TSP Custom 224/224 .581/.581 112lsa 1400-6300 RPM PB
Hooker 1& 3/4 LTs & ORY.....stock catback with Magnaflow muffler
Stock 10bolt with 3.73s & Girdle
Messed up 4l60e, hitting rev going into drive
TCI Super Streetfighter stall 3000-3500rpm
SLP Lid & K&N
Custom Tune
Bone Stock Suppension
This was done on a 275-50-15 ET Street Radial
THATS IT!!! I have a bunch of time slips with that time, car is pretty consistent. Also have a video. The video is of me and my buddy sorry dont have one of just me.. But im the red Z28 of coarse...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZolAV6F1TaQ

Here is the dyno sheet..this car makes really good track times for the shitty HP and TRQ it put down. But i will say this, the dyno i used is old and the bearing are wore out and it always dynos about 25hp less than others. So given that it should be about a 400rwhp car...

Good runs, but most everyone who claims to be cam only is really just cam only. Also your full weight car with you in it weighs less than mine slightly lightened car with skinnies and less gas.

What was your DA and temp? Still impressive runs and good 60' considering the stall that you have.

Thanks! The only thing done to reduce weight is the skinnies, front bumper support taken out, front sway bar w/brackets, and air pump. Also forgot to mention Bone Stock suspension. I also only weigh 140lbs with helmet lol Temp was about 45 degrees. Also trans-ams tend to weight more than Camaros

I just took tranny out, had it fixed, had stall lossened 500rpms, added underdrive pulleys, and putting a cut-out on it. Just waiting for track to open back up to see new results. Have any guessing??

Im thinking better than that. From what i read underdrives usually give a tenth in the 1/4. Cut-out gives 2 tenths, a nd hoping the new converter will drop my 60 foot times half a tenth which should be a tenth on the other end. So im thinking 4 tenths all together. 11.1xxx I hope. Trying to run a 6.9 with cam only. But i consider cam only the motor completely stock like it came from GM except for a camshaft, stock intake tb etc.

Your car runs pretty good. Plenty of guys have gone into the 10's cam only with stock intakes/tbs though. Keep whittling down those ETs!

Well damn, impressive for such a mild cam. It's kinda making me rethink swapping on the TR224 cam coming with the 6.0 I might be buying. Course, you're raceweight is also 280 lbs less than mine.

Good times with a very streetable cam and a relatively mild (<4000 RPM stall speed) converter.
2 tenths with a cutout is kinda optimistic; opening my cutout vs running the exhaust through the stock catback is worth .12 on my car.

Thanks guys! Yes i would love to run 10.9 cam only, but i dont think it will happen with the small of a cam. But i do love its street maners, no bucking at all! And about the cut-out..i was just guessing on that, ive read good and bad about the cut-outs. My last f-body did make 10rwhp and 8rwtq with it open though.

Yeah a cut-out is worth a solid tenth as well as the UD pulley so that's 11.30s no counting what the converter change does for you. I would say with 1.53 60fts you'll be in the 11.20s provided you have comparable air (-500 DA). I think a better stall converter (like a Circle D 4+C) would help your ets a good bit, but see what the extra 500 rpms do for you since it's in already. Keep us updated!

Thanks! Im no to concerned with the 1/4 mile times because 90% of the dragstrips around here are 1/8 mile. We only have one 1/4 mile in driving distance. I would really like to run a 6.999 in the 1/8 with my set-up now. I think it will be close. Hoping some of the dragstrips open back up after the first of the year, so i can get some cold weather.

Well its not a TCI anyone. I sent it to PTC and had them change the stator out to a 21 blade. They dont rate their converters in STR

Nice times, but what do you consider a True street car?

IMO a "STREET" car is just one that is driven whenever possible and is also one that someone is not afraid to drive 100 miles to the track. Great times BTW.

I also think that if someone is to say that their car is a "TRUE STREET" car then maybe it should also have street tires?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RLQ83nCjABc

But then again tires such as MT et street radials are also DOT and might......last over 1000 miles LOL.
