Default Et Streets vs Et Drags

Thought I would post up this video since I see alot of questions about what tire works for what car. I ran MT Et Streets 26x10.5x16 and my last track outing I cut a 1.75 60ft with a best of a 1.69 on those tires. I just switched to MT Et Drags 26x10x15 and dropped to a 1.63 and I believe I would have gone 1.5s if I could have gotten more passes but due to a race going on the T&T scene was low on the totem pole for getting track time.

First pass was 1.70
Second pass was 1.67
Third pass was 1.63

The harder I left the better the 60ft, with the Et Streets I could not do this, I would spin at least 3 revolutions on the hit each pass.

+1 for the Et Drags!

Still working on the launch, not quite ready ot leave off the rev limiter but heading in that direction.

Time for some 6000 clutch dumps!

There's a reason they're called ET Drags...

Yeah your right, just haven't really had the money lately to not worry about tearing stuff up. Things are looking a little better now so the next track outing I'm going to let it rip. By the way I always drive to and from the track so if I break I have to phone a friend for a trailer. Part of the game, I know

Not too often, about 3 or 4 times a year. Where are you located?

What kind of power are you making? Good to see that the drags helped you out. I would imagine a few more runs will help you out. If they were brand new they take a few runs to get broken in. So you will drop a good bit more if you are still spining at all. If they are already broken in then you will just need to up the launch rpm and continue to kick some ***.

From the looks of the video I would think that you need 28" ET Drags. Look at the left wheel when you dump the clutch? I bet in slow motion the rim is close to hitting the ground! The 28 inch tire would take some of the shock out from the rear hit.

On a stick shift F-body car M/T usually suggest using the stiff sidewall, is that what you went with? Also are the tires screwed to the rims? If not you more than likely are having some tire slip.

Good luck and be safe!

1/8 et was a little quicker like 7.52 vs 7.55 and 1/4 mile was exactly the same. The reason behind this was a 25-30 mph headwind that was slowing everybody down. I ran an 11.75 before on the ET Streets with a 1.75 60ft. My car consistently picks up 1.5 in the 1/4 for every 1 tenth I make up in the 60ft so if all things were equal I feel that pass should have been a high 11.50, but without the slip "it is what it is", maybe next time.

ET Street slicks are going to have a few more cords in them versus a ET Drag slick, thus possibly part of your spin problem. I used to run 28 x 12.5 ET Streets but they would spin off the transbrake (M/T said the rebound from the sidewall was likely causing it, and if I wasn't limited to the tire by class, try an ET Drag instead). I went to ET Drag 28 x 10.5 stiff sidewall and no problems now.
