The stock tachometer is notoriously slow. That may be what you're seeing.

My bolt-on car made peak power at 6128, and I shifted it at 6500. That was with the 100% bone stock valvetrain, and I never had an issue.

They is.

1>2 is 6000
2>3 is either 6000 or 5900 (depending on which year model)
3>4 is 5900

Setting them at 6200 will be good. They usually happen a little later than commanded. If you had a stall or nitrous you would probably want them set a little earlier. My 2>3 is set for 5900 but actually happens ~6300.

Hard to say about the race. I've seen an 05 GT with a 5 speed and a 100 shot run 12.7s with a 1.7 60'. You should be right on that (I'm assuming that you don't have a stall).

I would data log it to see where it is actually shifting at.
I found that 6,400 for a auto with a stock cam gave the best ET and MPH.
With a after market cam you should be close to 7,000

alright i went to bump up my shift points with my handheld programmer and instead of adjusting by rpm it only adjust by MPH so i bumped up my 1-2 shift and my 2-3 shift by 2mph and i also bumped my rev limiter up by 300rpm and increased my shift firmness...does this sound like the ring thing to do (2mph thing) or am i way off ?

2 mph more isn't going to hurt you if you're going from the stock settings. That should be fine.

Trial and error. Just see what works for you at the track.
