yeah i really would rather not go with a taller tire because i have my 26in. M/T with like 85% tread left soo i might just buy them and exchange them for some 3.73s from TSP....should help me on my 11sec. stock stall goal !

I have 4.10s right now, cam only though. I'm crossing the traps at 6700-6900rpm, shifts at 7k on 275/40/17 dr. I had 4.10s also when I was bolt-ons, it worked great. I was crossing the traps at 6200ish if I can remember correctly.

26" talls go with 3.73
28" talls go with 4.10
you are not going to gain hardly anything in an a4 unless you have 2.73s...don't waste the time/money on gears in a 10 bolt wait till you get a 12"/9"...
the converter makes up the gear difference...only way I was pulling 1.38 60ft with ls6 intake cam only 230/230 and stock 3.23 10 bolt

holy **** thats huge...what were the exact times before and after ? after the UD pully 3.73s its gonna be ready for a tune then just drop as much weight as possible by the lsx shootout and pray for some 11 sec. slips !

you don't need to be posting bs like this...there might be a reason why you dropped .5 but it is not due to a 3.73 gear swap...
that would be the first mod everyone would do then...
I am done giving good advise cause all you want to hear is how much it will help...
do the swap and update with results...cool?
I have done the swap myself and gained hardly anything...it is all in the converter...
why are you so stuck on the stock stall...that is like trying to go as fast as you can on the stock catback or 7 cyc...an a4 track car is fast because of a good aftermarket stall...but to each his own...

u don't have to get defensive about it I'm just seeing peoples results and I kno I won't gain five tenth I'm loomin for maybe two tenths and duh I want to kno results so I can decide how to spend my money there's nothin wrong with that at all. and I don't have1100 for a tranny build and 720 for a converter and another 400 for a tune that's why I'm still just doing 200 dollar bolt ons to go faster...thansk

All i can say is do your best @ trying to hit 11's w/ a stock converter but when your done invest in a nice one it makes all the difference.I still have the stock cat back and still running strong but i dont know if a SLP CME is considered stock anymore.

Put the 300 bucks toward something else, imho. If you have a stock motor (not winding up to 7k) 4:10's aren't the right gear, 3:73 would be ok but like has been said you won't see much gain.
$300 tune on a stocker will gain you more et. Mine dropped 3 tenths with no other changes.

825 for .5 seconds...there is your dollar/et ratio.
but it seems your mind is made up...good luck with the car...
