Default First 1/8 slip in my tc78 ls2 firebird

well i got tuned last week and made 550ish whp and it feels like a monster. Soo i finally made it to my local 1/8 mile and heres the outcome. Horrable launches, i need a rear sway bar and rr bag BAD, and 28inch tires and a driver mod. but heres a video and slip.

also whats you guy's guess on 1/4 times and once i get the rear suspenion tuned in what improvments can be made in the 1/8?

my setup
ls2truck manifold tc78
th350
3500 stall
trans brake 3.20 9in
26in 11.5 et street bia ply tires
3000lb raceweight with driver

Congrats that's some serious mph, I just put down 580 rwhp on 7lbs with my TC76. I know for certain I will not go 110 mph in the 1/8th. I have a T56 with a 9" but I thought your car is really light? Not that it matters but I'd say if you dyno with a manual you'd be around 630. You car should go low 10 maybe high 9's with traction around 135-138 mph. You have a beast on your hands!

thanks man, my goal is a 9.99 or better. And everyone keeps tellin me im not far from it.

and the weight is dead on, all bmr suspension, gutted interior, just door panels and a dash cover, no door bars, and pretty much everything i can cut off is cut off. it wieghed 2920 with heavy aftermarket vette wheels and now i have ccws and a aluminum center section in my 9 inch. so it should be what i think. this was also half tank of gas no roll cage both front seats

Something seems off to me? A 1.73 60' isnt great but its not BAD either, especially for trapping 109 mph!! i would of thought youd run a mid 6? Unless the MPH isnt accurate or the et? I ran a 7.05 with a 1.62 60' but at only 99 mph.. So im leaving the line slightly harder but damn your 10mph faster! i would think that would be good for more then a 10th. FWI i was running 1.9 60's and 7.40's-7.50's @99 trying not to get the boot. Your setup definitely has more in it!!

yea thats all accurate times/mph. i ran 111 once but just the first half of the track the cars all over the place. 28 in tires,a sway bar and a bag will get me there i think hopefully

I ran low 6.30s at 109MPH in the 1/8th. It's making the power for sure.

I think his e.t. is off because he is blowing through the converter. Is the verter spec'd for the car?

I have a 76GTSH that peaks at 11#s and made 635 through a 6 spd. on a dynojet. Since it has the 4L80E I would guess I am right around where you are now. The previous owner of my car had put a TH400 in this car after the 6 spd. was removed. It had a 4000k stall, but it was a cheap piece of **** and it hurt his e.t. considerably because it was loose allowing him to blow through it. He switched to the 4L80E with a FTI 3200k stall and it is so much better it's like a different car. It is nice and tight and won't rev past 2500-2600rpm during normal driving, but once you stab the throttle it stalls right to 3500-3600rpm and hauls ***. I am going to my local 1/8th mile tomorrow night for test and tune. My goal is to break into the 6's on my first pass and trap over 100mph. I think with a little less stall you can run a 6.3 at 110 all day long with a 1.4x 60'. I hope I can mirror your results tomorrow. Good runs and nice car!

I have a convertor built by a local company, its a 3500 stall with all the goodies in it(billet cover, balloning plate, stator). I did have a crap 4000k summit convertor in it before and it was junk. Now im only in second gear rolling threw the traps in the 1/8 so i think its not blowing threw it that bad.

But im sure your first pass your trap a great mph.

Well I'm not totally saying that your converter is junk by any means. Please don't take my post that way if you did at all. Sorry for any clout that might of caused, anyways...I've always heard that tighter lower stalls work better for turbo's, but I would also think that the bigger the turbo the bigger the stall you would want to have to get it to flash at peak torque output. While this does mean every stall for different cars will be different, I've seen a lot of people trending towards the PY2800-3400 stall converters by yank. Circle D, Coan and Neil Chance all make really nice converters as well as does FTI which is the stall that is in my car. A properly set-up stall will gain you an advantage every time in a roll race or at the track on the trans brake.

Stay away from an air bag in the rear and just get you a nice anti-roll bar. A good anti-roll bar will help out immensely with your launches and will do everything a air bag tries to do and more. If you decide you want one give me a call here at the shop.

This is something to compare to which may help!

I just went to my local track for TNT and my car is a 346 CI that puts 400 HP to the ground NA and weighs in at 3,320 lbs. Launching NA on the foot brake and allowing the nitrous controller to start adding a 75 HP dry shot of nitrous on a 1 second delay at 40% and ramping to 100% in 3/10 of a second the car ran back to back the following runs with a DA over 2,000 feet.

1.476 60 foot at 6.575 ET and 110.531 MPH
1.471 60 foot at 6.561 ET and 110.327 MPH

So if you get your 60 foot down more with the help of better traction by adding a sway bar and tires you will get closer to a 9 second time slip. It takes me a low 1.30 60 foot and 6.20’s to run a 9 second time slip. But with you having more cubic inches and being turbo it should build more MPH and reduce ET on the back half so maybe it will do it.

I hope this helps! Good luck on your next outing.

Wow dude your cars soo fast! Man anything below a 1.5 60 has to be insane and also your
Making that good of et using just your footbrake no transbrake. Man I got some much to learn.

But I went to the track tonight and got a 1.7 sixty but I had a bad accident. I never latched my hood in the staging lanes......and ya.. I need a windsheild now. So ya ill be back at it next week.
