I just went through all the posts on here again, and it appears you either currently have (or will have) all the parts needed to get the job done. One thing that I would highly reccommend is a good custom tune to tie it all together

Man, your car sounds similar to the last car I built. It was a 99 Camaro that I swapped the drivetrain from a wrecked 99 Trans Am w/ 155k miles. That said...

Swiss cheese the **** out of that ************. The only way to go really fast in these cars is minimal weight. Just look at the stock internal list sticked at the top of this forum. These cars can go into the 10's with the right bolt ons. Just throwing whatever cheap parts you can find is a recipe for disaster. That's why you'll find thousands of 12 second heads/cam cars here! I went 12.20's with headers, ls6 intake, fast toys 98mm lid, and a small 2800 Yank converter. Took a little more weight out, added a Yank SS4000 and QA1's. That netted me an 11.68@113.75. Then I threw in a 224/224 114lsa .581/.581 lift cam in with stock 243 LS6 heads, ran 11.1x@almost 120mph. For ***** I sprayed the car with a nearly empty bottle I had with me and went 10.6@128 on a 1.4 60'. I really didn't have much money in the car, but I did have a lot of time in getting it lighter. I could have easily gotten another 150lbs out of the car and gotten it into the 10's with the 224 cam and LS6 heads if I would have stuck with it. It would have been a bottom 10 second car with the right cam like an MS4, G5X4, Tick Polluter, stuff like that.

I will say do your research on your valve train as well. There are some good single springs out there from PSI that can control valve events well. You want to lose as much weight, while retaining control, out of the valve train. Can't stress this enough but valve stability is key. Congrats on the purchase! Makes me want to buy another one when I see these threads!

Thanks for the info. Best I got out of the car was a 12.5. Tracks are closed here now for the winter but I got some goodies. Quick performance Ford 9”. Th400 rmvb. 3700 stall. Prc stage 2.5 heads. Leaning toward ms4 cam. Hoping to run low 11s on motor and 10s on the bottle with a small shot.

If you don't already have the heads, pass on the PRC 2.5's. Just copy TSP's record holding combo. They used a "MS5?" cam (they were running an MS4, then updated to the unknown cam they referred to colloquially as MS5), and the PRC 227 heads. You could get close to their results, but it would be exceptionally difficult to beat their ET/MPH. Their car was setup a lot like an NHRA Stock Eliminator class car, which means a lot of expensive trick components, like a metric TH200 transmission, 5900 converter, steep gear, severe weight reduction, finding every ounce of weight and hundredth of ET.

I am not looking to spend a ton on the heads right now. Just something better than stock that will run good with a cam bolt ons and some spray. Hoping to get everything installed and running by end of feb so I can get some testing done before the season starts. Going to lighten up the car. Started with most of the interior. Omg to ditch drive seat and get a kirkey.

Definitely plan on getting some front coil overs. Once you start taking weight out, the car will get the 4x4 stance goin on real quick!

Coil overs are in the plan as well as tube k member and control arms. Right now suspension is bone stock minus some cheap rear summit adjustable drag shocks.

Quick update on the car. I have completely changed the setup from stock.

Engine:
stock 5.7 bottom end
prc ls6 stage 2.5 heads
tsunami v2 cam
ported stock tb
48lbs injectors
1 7/8” header

Car:
welded in subframe connectors
ford 9”
4000 fti stall
3.89 ring gear drag spool
th400 rmvb

tune is mix between tsp mail order and my work. Mail order didn’t work very good at all. Bought hp and started modifying it to work. Pulls great wot now.

Will post some some pictures and videos soon. Tried on the street and couldn’t get it to hook at all. Seems like every chance I get to go to the track it is raining. Hoping to get out soon and get some 1/4 mile times. Shooting for mid 11s

update soon

That sounds like a solid setup. Should do well once tuned correctly

Not sure what your intake set up is but considering you said port the stock TB I would look into a fast 92 or 102 and do a ram air set up like the Chris1313 and seal the lid up.

Sorry its a ls6 intake. I am looking into a super victor with an accufab throttle body.

Currently has a slp lid and ram air system, like a mini version of the chris1313.

Looks like it is going to rain tomorrow night in Onondaga. Saturday is showing clear, might be able to swing out to US131 after work. Will get some videos up.

I need to get out to 131 at least once. I hear it's nicer than Milan

way nicer imo. esp for spectators. The gf enjoys how clean and nice and new it is over milan. We are like smack dab in between them, about an hour and 20 from milan and martin, and like 25 minutes from Onondaga, but they only do 1/8th mile.

Working on getting the tune right. I am new to hptuners, way different than the older imports I used to build.

Hit the 1/8 mile track after work yesterday not the best conditions. But was still able to get 9 passes in the car. Need to make some anti roll bar adjustments and clean the tune up some. Best I did was 7.37 @ 93mph in the 1/8th with a 1.7x 60’. Not super impressed with that time. Best 60’ I got was 1.5x. Getting better need to get it tune squared away and cut some more weight out of the car and shift some weight to the back. I’ll grab a slip pic when I get out of work

Are you full weight? I would expect a little more mph out of it with your mods. I went to Onondaga May 25th. With 3,100da I went 7.26 @ 94 on motor and 6.90 @ 101 with nitrous. 1.57 60'. I have 799s, and the "sloppy stage 2" cam for engine mods. 3,350#rw. You'll get a better 60' at Milan and 131. My last time at Milan No ET, every pass was 1.49-1.51 60'.

I’m probably around 3300 with me in it. I’m still working on the tune. Losing out on some hp there for sure. I know for a fact I need more seat time with this setup. I made 9 runs and each one got better and better. Getting my shifts dialed in. I found out stock tac is off. I tapped the limiter in 1st tac showed 6k limiter is 6800.

Still have a ton ton of work to do but yes I expected more 1/8th mile mph. I was looking for 95-98.

Definitely 95+mph with your weight. Keep at it, you'll get there.
