Bradenton Nostalgia results
Well I thought this was going to be my last race for the year, but now I'm thinking about 1 more shot.
Bradenton Motorsport Park in Florida hosted the southern nostalgia drags/car show (1979 and earlier models) so I hauled down early Sat morning for their TNT. The company I work for NPD ended up as the presenting sponser, so I somehow talked my boss into sponsering me as well for the weekend (so hotel, gas, entry fees and food didn't cost me anything! I did pay for a few pictures with the wheels up )
First pass with a 1700 rough DA and a slight tailwind, car pulls:
60 foot---1.587
330 foot--4.680
1/8 mile--7.277
mph------94.19
1000 ft---9.548
1/4 mile--11.473
mph------115.97
I was thinking it was a decent 1st pass considering I ran a best of 11.53 at super chevy 2 weeks earlier at Gainesville.
So, I decided after some prodding from my buddy Jason to spray the 100 hp shot out of the hole (keep in mind I'm running a 9 inch wide et street with simple slapper bars). Did my burnout, staged and smacked the button right as I hammered the gas, and this is what we got:
60 foot---1.514 (NPB, previous best was 1.526 on my 10.71 pass in 400 DA air)
330 foot--4.400
1/8 mile--6.845
mph------100.18
1000 ft---8.979
1/4 mile--10.787
mph------123.47
Not bad for a pump gas 3500 lb car I thought! 2nd best nitrous pass ever, and I felt the front end come up once set down then back up again! tires chattered a little but never spun! DA was about 1700-1800.
Best N/A pass of the weekend was an 11.420 at 116.97 mph with a 1.577 60 foot on a 1st round pass Sunday morning when my opponent went red. I'm 40 lbs heavier than the beginning of the season so I'm hoping for some 11.30's soon!
I ended up losing 2nd round when I at the tree. One of the worst lights I've had in 2 years. But had a fun weekend overall. They had 2 heads-up classes, and the 10.5" tire class had a low qualifier 7.56 @ 186 mph pass. The low qualifier in outlaw was a top dragster 32 bantam altered with a stretched wheelbase (almost like a front-engine dragster with a larger cockpit) that ripped off a 6.20 at 217 mph!
So as mentioned at the top of the post, I'm thinking about trying one last time this year at the Citrus Nats at Moroso during Thanksgiving weekend to hopefully end my season on a better note!
Hope to also have the launch pic scanned soon and up on my webshots page

Is the season really ever over? I find myself looking online, at track schedules ... just to find one more event to go to. We are really hooked on this drag racing stuff. Glad to hear you did well, this was with the Nova?

George,
yep, the nova has been getting the majority of the time on the strip. But I'll have a post up about the Formula shortly..
Eric,
Hopefully I'll have it scanned here soon, I'm starting to get used to the wheels up feel, but it never gets old!
