New fastest SI car in the country?
Well guys i finally took my car out to the track and she surprised the HELL out of me.
Fist off i went from a cam only 6.0 with stock 241 heads milled .040, M6, full bolt on weighing in at 3555 and was running 7.3 @ 95.
I sold my motor and my tranny and pretty much everything else but my rear end. had a bunch of stock pars layin around, took them to a machine shop and got a rebuilt stock LS1. i threw a stock 98 cam and some stock 241's on it, FAST 90/90, full bolt ons, two bullets/header extensions and a th350 w/ 8"4600 conv and trans brake..
Also took everything out of the car i didn't need and did some cutting and hole sawing.And it turns out the car is ALOT lihter than i thought it would be. had it weighed at a certified truck scale with all my tools, an extra set of wheels and tires in the back and a bunch of miscilaneous crap in it. probably around 100 - 120 lbs of crap. and it weighed in at 3180 with me in it.
And at the local 1/8 mile track i ran first time out a 7.15 @95 w/1.52 60'
best of the night was a 7.05 @96 w 154 60'. I threw those times in a calculator and it said i should run around an 11.10 @119.
Keep in mind when i ran this i still had my pass seat, all floor mats, tech 2 and a bunch of other miscilaneous crap i didn't feel like takin out. This was also the first time to the tack with the new set up and also my first time EVER taking an auto down the track(horrible burn outs) and also first time using a trans brake . i forgot to take my shift light pills so all i had was the 6400 i used with my last motor. the 7.05 was with me shifting alittle before the light.
Sooooooo i figure since Magnus now has a cam i just need to hit up a 1/4 mile track, take out all the extra weight, get down how to launch the car right and i might have a pretty good shot at it. What do you think?

Also BTW this car is a 90+mile a day daily driver!
Almost forgot its not COMPLETELY stock, the machine shop put some ARP rod bolts in it ,cause when i put a cam in it i will spin it to the moon, and what ever bearings and rings they put in it.

It is stock internal, there is no performance gain whatsoever by having rod-bolts........It is more of a high rpm durability issue, if it has factory crank, rods, pistons, it is stock internal...........
By your definition if you took the pan off would that make it not stock internal?

The SI list started out with rules that said if the engine was opened up with replaced or tampered with parts then it's not SI, but hey WTF do I know. I thought that was set up to keep it honest ie....if the engine is opened up things can be changed or heads ported. I know that the list is by your word only, but there are people out there (not saying anyone particular) that will lie about things and do whatever it takes to be number 1. That's human nature and some poeple just aren't honest.

Either way it is a pretty gay rule, when it gives you no advantage over another SI car to have rod-bolts
Is having a ported oil-pump breaking the rules too?
Changing head gaskets?
Sounds like unless your car has the motor that it came with from the factory and it has NEVER been apart in anyway you cannot run in the SI class. That being the case doesnt seen like we will have a SI class much longer.

It does affect performance though.
I'm sure I could have picked up with some LS6 springs for higher RPM and rod bolts to help keep it together.
Or go to a thinner head gasket for more compression..
Or upgrade to the 241 heads.
Either way he's right there. On my 10.9 pass I went either 6.9 or 6.8 in the 1/8th. It's gonna be close. I also went 11.000 11.001 and 11.002 all on the same day.

I think it is funny that people argue about the rules to a title that wins nothing! So you have the fastest stock longblock, f-body car, on tuesday, at 85* and 45% humidity...wow you win a cookie.
To me it does not matter what is under the hood, fast is fast and I respect that no matter how you get there. I just don't get argueing over internet titles that don't mean poop.

The rules are pretty plain and simple if you change anything inside the motor then it's not SI
