Unhappy Looks like my cam-only runs may be over.

Went to the 1/8mi. track last Friday night after going to the dyno. I got about 3 runs in kinda dissapointing times then on the last run my mph went down 4mph!!!! As I pulled around to the pits my low oil light came on. I checked the oil and it looked about a quart low(hot) so I figured it was time to go home. On the way home (about 4 miles) I started hearing a ticking noise and thought it was a rock or something in my tire. Then the noise got louder and something let go and sounded like a box of marbles then went dead. After I coasted to a stop I checked over the outside with no problems then tried to crank it and no dice

So it looks like I will have to open up the engine and see what I broke. It depends on how much it's going to cost if I rebuild it or just get a low mileage stock LS1 put back in with my cam and rod bolts this time.

Damn that sucks..

Might be time to drop in a standard LS2 motor. They are priced pretty similar to the LS1's and offer more cubes.

It's always surprising how many people throw a rod or spin a bearing due to low oil.
I ALWAYS cary a quart of oil with at all times. its cheaper than a motor.

I usually do too, but I had just got my car back from being down for 5 weeks because of a tranny rebuild and was just excited just have it back and run again. I did have a couple of quarts of tranny fluid

Would I be out of the list if I put a new stock LS1 engine in with my cam and rod bolts???

I believe Magnus has rod bolts and he's on the list. I don't see why you couldn't.

Yeah, I was about to ask if you had sold your motor yet. Then I saw you had

Did you have rod bolts in your old motor? What about your new motor?
