Default Stock 2001 Z06 times? What have you seen at the track?

Well when I bought the Z06 the gy told me he took it to the track 1 time and got a best of 13.0@114 no powershifting, shifting fairly easy. Well just talked to the guy on the phone today and found out today and he found the box with all his Z06 stuff and it was actually a 13.0@109.8mph. This was in Houston, and isn't Houston @ sea level and produces better times?? Not to magazine race, but most publications got much better e.t. and trap speeds. For example Motor trend got 12.6@114 in an 01 Z06. I don't pay much mind to his e.t. b/c I know thats mostly driver skill but that mph sucks. Hope it's not a dud! Granted, it was his first time and he said he was shifting pretty easy but still. To me, the car Seems to run damn stong but without going to the track I don't know. Wish we had a track here on L.I.!

Anyhow, curious to hear what you guys have seen at the track w/01 Z06's. 13.0@109.8 at Houston seems pathetic!

Thanks,
Kevin

i suggest just going to the track and finding out. who knows what the previous driver was doing. i see ls1's go 98mph at the track sometimes and wonder wtf these people are doing. so instead of worrying about it...go find out. i have a friend with a 01 z06 that is stock and i believe it goes 112mph.

Yeah i think you are right. Question though, Houston being at sea level means people should see better times, right?

You know only two things, 13.0 and almost 110 mph. The 110 shows mid 12's capability. Go take the car to the track for yourself and see what it turns.

Well I think the best thing for me to do is completely ignore the numbers he got. B/c if all the car can do is 110mph well that makes me want to if the GM spec is 114mph. The difference of 4mph in the 1/4 is huge IMO. people install decent sized Cams and don't even gain that much.

GM advertised the '01 as 114mph in the 1/4?

You can attribute the results from the previous owner as a result of a lack of driving ability.

Take her to the track, see what she runs. Let us know. Good luck.

yes, GM Spec for 01 Z06 is 12.6@114 which coincidentally is exactly what Motor Trend got.

I know I can drive pretty good so I will have to take it to the track and make sure something isn't wrong. All I can say is it feels damn strong and I can only attribute the problem to traction. the car spins 1st and 2nd so easily and even spins shifting into 3rd (sometimes minimal, sometimes really bad). I have even slightly chirped 4th in this car. Coming from Nitto 315's these stock 295 F1's can't hook for ****.

i wouldnt worry about what he ran. go see what you run. i got a video of a SRT/10 viper going 12.9@113, (SUCKS!) probably his 1st time at the track. i forget which magazine it was but they got a best of 11.7@123 with the SRT/10 .

driver, weather, track DA' and prep etc... have alot to do with the mph. hell, my 1st time out with my old H/C set i went 12.8@113 in the summer, i was like . my buddy told me to get a shift light, so i did and very next time i was at the track in the same weather i went 12.1@117. when it comes to racing with a 6 speed and getting the best mph, you better ***** on perfect with driving and shifting at the precise time or your not gonna be happy.

At the track I go to (Speedway ~1300 ft. elevation, and running into the wind~) i've seen an 02 Z06 run a 13.1 sec. 1/4 mile at 110 mph, with a 2.2 sec. 60'. I believe the 01's are slower, but not by much. My guess is you won't see 114mph traps, which honestly threw me off in your other thread. I'm guessing you see around 112-113 mph in favorable conditions (Meaning you not running at Bandimere Raceway). Usually those cars dyno around 335-340whp stock, and it's light to boot, so you should have decent enough power for a 12 sec. slip. Just hope you grip.

None that I've seen can drive, I've seen 13.3 @ 110 mph to 12.6 @ 108

The only one that could drive has a laundry list of parts on his car that looks just like mine, he is running 11.6s @ 119-120 mph.

I beat a viper GTS with mine, quite handily, I think the guy lost 2 lengths each time he shifted he ran 12.8 @ 116 mph. best
