Default Wtf!?!?!?!

So I finally took my car to the track last night. I ran a 14.4 five times . The speed was around 103mph average. And the reaction times were preaty good for a first timer my latest RT on the night was .232. But I only ran a 14.4 five times. . My buds told me that I was spining the tires preaty good but I still dont think it should have mess me up that bad. My car has a lid, flow cat back, 275 all around, all the free mods, underdrive pulley, and msd wires with ngk plugs. I also took out the seats. Besides two ls1 vettes mines was the fatests ls1 out there. Needless to say im quite disapointed with my times. Im going to try to this fri. again to see if I can do better.

How were the 60's? Your mph is okay, just work on the launch and you can get some 13's I bet. Keep practicing!

Wow, 2.5's are your problem, you can get those down around 2.0's on street tires unless your track it just really slippery. Mid to low 13's are possible with some better launches I bet.

I ran a 13.5 with just a lid and catback on 245 street tires , I got my 60 down to 1.9

I think your problem is you didnt warm the tires up... you should be capable of low 13s

Your 60', as pointed out by several members, is what is holding you back. You're spinning your 1/4 mile time away. For every tenth taken off it's .15 sec. off of your 1/4 mile. If you cut a 2.2 sec. 60' your 1/4 mile would be a in the high 13's. Also your mph may go up if you are spinning excessively down the track (I've been on tracks where the prep was so poor I was spinning in 3rd gear.

edit: gosh I suck, that's twice i've done that.

Street tires do not need to be heated up they are made to dissipate, just give them a quick spin to clean off the shut on the tires and thats it. That is how i got my 1.86 60 ft on dunlop street tires..also dont enter in the water box drive around it and back up just infront it, steet tires do not need to get wet and do not need a burn out.

That does kind of make sense, I made my best run on my most conservative burnout
