11.3 @ 127 on a stock car. It makes me wonder why modding. It cost a lot to mod a car because **** does break after modding and it adds up. I will just wait 2 years when 06' z06 dropping to 40k. I got about 25k (including 20k for the car) on my TA since I got my car in 2002.

It makes me sad to think of that most vettes won't see 6000 rpm in their life time because their owners are too afraid to push it.

Exactly. But the complusion to tinker is hard for many owners to resist.

I just keep mine stock and try to go faster by learning to drive them better. Once dialed-in, the goal shifts to finding better race conditions. I have 500+ passes in Z06s without breakage. Replaced DRs and a couple clutches...just the wear parts. I like having a warranty and keeping with a fully engineered package.

This is exactly what my buddy says about his 06 Z06, he hasn't been to the track with it as of yet and we are dying to see what it does.

But he had tons of passes on his 2001 even once cut a 1.66 60' on a BFG drag radial, that 01 Z06 also went 11.7 @ 119.9 over in Bradenton.

But speaking to him, he's told me about your ET's with all your cars to date

I'm a guy with the time and inclination to share techniques honed by making passes in the stock platforms I drive.

I write for two distinct audiences.

First, for owners seeking to improve their own performance in straight-line acceleration.

And second for the many owners without the time or opportunity to race their Corvettes but enjoy reading about days at the track by an owner with dialed-in driving.

Never claim to be the fastest driver of this platform. Just one fast guy who writes it up.

First of all.....WOW .

What RPM does the car through the traps at? Do you think there would any advantage to spin the motor beyond the factory rev limiter?

On my 127.1 pass the C6Z06 went through the traps at about 130-131, fresh off the 3-4 shift at 123. At the traps the rpm=about 5000....the 4-5 shift would not occur until 163 mph.

I plan to leave my ECU stock and just learn to work with the factory rev limiter of 7100. The challenge on the 1-2 is to peg the shift to around 7000 without kissing the limiter. The 2-3 and 3-4 are easy to work with.

So, I take it that the motor is still pulling pretty well at 7k?

It seems as if those cars could benefit pretty well from a gear in the 3.70 range in order to lower the 3/4 shift point.

Peacock, there are many tweaks that can be done along the way. But I am a stock guy trying to get the most I can by improving my driving, remaining breakage-free, and keeping the warranty in tact, while pursuing 10s...bone stock.

I understand competely. I was just curious about the nature of this beast you have. I too am a push it to the limit stock guy. I believe I still hold the record for the fastest bone stock SRT4 at a 13.60.

Good job getting to hook, I had a horrible time. 13.0 @ 113 w/ 2.2 60' spinning through 2nd (I also am a noob though) I didn't see your car there... (no surprise) I wish I could have man! I was there till 10:30 since around 7pm.

I arrived at 5:15, made first pass at 6:00, second one at 7:01. By then the track surface temp was too cold for traction. So I split for dinner.

That's kinda where I am at right now as well but on a lesser scale, I like to think of myself as a Ranger wannabe for the C6 LS2 automatic side of things LOL, quite a bit less skill inolved in my game though and ultimately I might mod the car a little.

Ranger, thanks for sharing. Cecil is a good track, however I usually race at Capitol since I'm 15 minutes away. I won't be at the corvette meet obviously but hopefully I will see you race sometime in the near future, which car will be yours?

My 2006 Z06 is red. Should be easy to spot; the one being hassled by track officials.

I like Capitol but was banned there on opening day, at least on DRs. Will be trying again there on stock tires. MIR is still open to me; same with Cecil County. Hope to see you this Spring.
