Default **NEW** Stock Internal record 10.92 @ 121 mph

Well my brother and I just got back from the track. We haven’t had much time to go since last May when we had our new best. During the summer we had the Project SS in some down time and had a 6 point roll bar installed. While at it we tried to remove some weight to make up for what was added by the roll bar. Also took off the stock SS hood to be replace by a lightweight, but the lightweight isn’t ready. For now the only option was to put on a stock steel hood. The only new mods we made have been the roll bar, new MT 26/10/15' slicks, and a new tune.
We loaded up and headed for the track and made six runs. The temp tonight was in the low 40’s. The first pass is usually our slowest which resulted in 11.01 @ 120 mph. Came back to the pits to review the log and made some wot afr tweaks on the tune. Got back into the staging lanes for our second run of the night which resulted in 10.985 @ 120.70 mph. Feeling good with the second run we made another wot afr tweak and BAM!! The third run of the night and our best

60ft = 1.461 DA -578
1/8 = 6.889 @ 97.47 mph
1/4 = 10.925 @ 121.03 mph

This is with true duals exhaust with x-pipe, stock 4l60E, ,TCI 4400 stall, stock TA , stock 10 bolt with 3.73, Weld Draglites, FAST 90 intake, NW 90mm TB,

Awesome! I knew when I had the record in the 11.20's for a long time, that was just the tip of the iceburg. Many people were disbelievers of me and others then, and they will be those of you. Don't fret over that. Your set up is very similar to what mine was, and with ~300#'s more for me at the time, it makes sense on your results.

I think 10.50's will be attainable for a VERY light car like your or others with a lot of tire (say 29.5" radial), lot of gear (4.88-5.13), lot of converter. Basically, set up the car like a Stock Eliminator who is not worried about mph and just ET. Especially if you set the tune up on "kill" with a lot of timing and turning it at very high rpm's for stock cranktrain not worried about durability.

This just makes me want to uncrate a bone stock untouched motor I have and slip it in my Formula as it is a much better set up than I had back then. However, low-to-mid 9's N/A sure are fun, so, probably not. But, you never know...

Take care and good luck. Dave

Bad ***! So whats next? Making the record deeper 10s or going for the cam only record? It would be sweet to see a cam only car run a 9. With how well Rodney and Joe did in M6 cars I would think an A4 (Built) could do it.

We weighed the SS today and the race weight is 2920 lbs. There’s been a lot of hard work and skinned knuckles getting to this weight. All while trying to keep it from looking like a stripper. From the pic you can see it still has the interior.
Whats next who knows we still have a new set of Bogart’s , D2’s front runners and a Strange 12 bolt to use.

Here’s a list of mods

stock heavy SS hood <--- replaced with factory steel hood while waiting on lightweight hood

FAST 90 intake
ASP underdrive balancer
Meziere electric race version water pump
Taylor wires
TR55 plugs
NW 90mm throttle body
Spal fan
Hawker Odyssey lightweight battery
Hooker LT headers
True duals with X-pipe with bullet mufflers dumps in front of rear axle
BMR tubular k-member
Madman manual brakes
BMR LCA’s
Aluminum PHB
TCI line lock
Hal – QA1 R series front shock / drag springs
Hal – QA1 rear shocks
Strange front drag brakes
4400 TCI stall
B&M trans cooler
Energy Suspension poly torque arm mount
3.73 stock 10 bolt rearend
Stock torque arm
Spohn pro-series rear drag sway bar
Weld Racing Draglites 15 x 4 front , 15x 10 rear
Front skinny radials
Mickey Thompson 15 x 10 x 26 ET slicks
3 inch wheel stud’s (front and rear)
weight reduction

So I'm wondering.

How many people come up and ask "how big of a shot are you running?"
