Default m/t radials work well on transbrake and heavy street car!

changed a bunch of my suspension and converted to th400 with fuddle/howard converter this year. track was pretty good as usual down here.

while i didnt set a new best (had an issue with the driver and shifter - mostly the driver!) i did set a new best on its maiden voyage with the big radials.

basics:

3600+ lbs raceweight TA
full exhaust down to the SLP dual/dual (insanely quiet)
230/230 cheesy old comp cam
stock heads
worn out original motor
325 m/t radials @ 14 psi cold
th400 with brake
some fuddle/howard converter. somewhere around 4400 stall. who knows
125 nx wet shot
stock front shocks and suspension, lowering springs (see sig pix)
BMR and SJM rear suspension
Strange S60 3.73 gear/spool

1.391 60' spraying right after the brake released.

felt damn good!

i didnt expect the tire and transbrake to work so well its first time out. we didnt setup anything on this car. just threw it in and hoped for the best. many here told me not to shock the radials. maybe at really big power levels but for my setup, and a good track, it worked. i will test out footbrake on the nitrous next time out. it felt great to drive to and from the track 45 miles each way with a quiet street car and 60' well. i love these radials

lame. 10.9 @ 122 on that 1.391 60' - the car stoped accelerating well after the 1 to 3 shift lol

car shoudl run pretty well if i shift it past 6500 rpms and apply 2nd gear this time.

btw, please, anyone with radial tires, come on in and tell me your secrets to hooking the radials. i am just learning this new 325 m/t animal. i wish i had more power to lean on this tire. i tried to kick this tire in the ***** and it hit me back with a hammer.

We went 1.29 60ft on the 325/50s leaving off the brake and one stage of nitrous.

Car went 5.56@125 in the 1/8 but it weighed 2950 race weight.

Eeh.... first pass in my car I pulled the shifter to 2nd immediately when releasing the transbrake, and the 2nd outing, I did itthe first pass off teh brake again... don't feel bad LOL.

Sounds like you're having good luck with that tire, I might have to try them out next year. Out of curiosity, how did they end up fitting, say compared to a 28x10.5?

What rims are you running with the 325s and how much BFH did you have to do?

They are the same demensions as the 28/10.5/15W tire. Stock width rear with 10in wheels with a 7.5bs. It does take some bfhing in the inner fenders but not to bad.

Congrats John! I think Bradenton's hooking ability helps a bunch here, as Gainesville works well for me (1.55 or better during Super Chevy weekend in October with around 2000 DA) but I had a 1.520 and 1.524 on the radials in Bradenton 2 weekends ago during TNT off the footbrake. I almost got greedy and went for a transbrake hit but swapped the slicks back on for bracket racing the next day.

just cut the bump stop area out of the wheel housing. a bit of banging in the inner fender area but not too much. getting the rear and correct wheel bs was key as well as offset LCAs.

what is funny (or sad for me) is that among the cars that are 60'ing in the 1.3 range, most are very very fast cars. mainly 8-9 second cars.

i dont know what my problem is. my car MIGHT make 460 rwhp ON the jug.

Yeah, that was off the brake with a progressive nitrous controller. That nx maximizer is awesome.

It WAS a Futral Motorsports 434 (Darton Sleeved LS1) with a direct port nitrous kit through a th350 and 3.73 gears. The car was full weight with working AC in that picture. I broke the oil pan and almost put a guy's eye out with the electric antenna while he was helping load it on the trailer.

Futral is redoing the setup and doing a different power adder. It's going to be more race than street, but I'm still going to be on MT drag radials. But, I'm going to be running the 30" tires.

I also love the stability of those tires. It's like driving down the interstate

I love my MT radial's. My 60ft times are not quite as good as most of you but pulling a 1.6 in a 4400 lb car is hard to do. With no spin and driver side tire 4" off the ground on stock Impala front tires. No front skinninies. This is on 275/60/15 Mt radial's.

i have to assume the auto with TB hits easier than your stick car but then again i just went 1.3 60' with over 3600 lbs making less power than you and i KNOW less suspension setup.

only one way to find out tim!

Yeah John I did the same thing. Left on the T-Brake about 3k, the n2o was on the WOT and I thought the car would spin but instead it lifted the front tires and went 1.41 60' but on the next pass it broke an axle. They definately work@14psi. Later Clint

Be careful with the Tbrake and the spray with those tires.... Oil pans , headers and tranny cases are $$$$$

I put mine on the bumper off the foot brake .. The Tbrake would be BAD!

The tires like to be hit hard ... we tried leaving and bring the spray in 10' out and they would spin ... so we hit it right out of the hole and they hook like a mother.

Invest in some travel limiters now and save your *** bars might be a good idea also.

My car is 3665 with me in it. TH400 , 12 bolt , 370 iron block. Cut some LOW 1.3's at the pump gas drags with the 325/50's
Pretty sure we can get it in the 1.2's with the limiters on the car.

Like I said be careful with the Tbrake ... Tbrake + N20 + MT DR's = Bumper dragging
