Default New best for 396 LT1 - 11.7 @ 118.8

Headed out to Speedworld today as we finally had some decent conditions. Last time out, my best was a 12.1 @ 117.3 with a 1.96 60'. Needless to say, traction was an issue.

I added LCA relocation brackets and ran a new best today of 11.754 @ 118.818. Here's a breakdown of the run:

r/t____014
60'___1.838
330'__4.979
1/8__7.618
MPH__94.180

1000'__9.790

E.T___11.754
MPH__118.818

I backed this up with about six 11.8xx passes. Not bad considering the car still has 3.23s in the back and hasn't been on the dyno yet. A few more tweaks and the car should have no problem getting me kicked off the track.

For those who aren't familiar with my car, it's a 396 LT1 with an LE2/4 setup, street twin, etc. bla bla.

Here's the video of the 11.7 run. The video was shot on a still camera, so the sound quality kind of sucks and there is no zooming:

Here are a couple more vids from the day:

11.8 @ 118

12.0 @ 118

Congrats. Which heads are you running? That's great MPH for your ET. There's still plenty left in your combination.

Thanks.

Here's a quick run down on my setup:

Dragonslayer 3.875" Forged Crank
SRP 14cc dish forged pistons
5.850" H-beam Rods
Canton oil pan
Blueprinted high volume oil pump
Comp R lifters
Pro Magnum Roller Rockers
Comp Cams Pushrods
58MM Arizona Speed and Marine TB
Moroso CAI
Hooker LT's (JetHot Coated)
Street Twin
F.A.S.T engine management with wideband 02 sensor
LE4 Cam 24x/24x, .6xx/.6xx 10x LSA
LE2 Heads
Accel 300+ ignition module and coil
36# SVO Injectors
LE2 Heads
Cloyes Double Roller Timing Chain
Electric Waterpump
Vented Opti
Eibach sportline lowering springs
BMR Strut Tower Brace
BMR Panhard rod
BMR tubular LCAs
BMR LCA relocation brackets
255GPH fuel pump
26x10.50 ET Streets
MT skinnies on Draglites

And some other little sh*t.

The biggest thing holding the car back is the 3.23 gears. 3.23s behind a six speed make it real tough to get out of the hole, and the car is in 3rd for more than half the track. I have no doubt it would be a low 11 second car with more gear and a dyno tune.

With some gear, definately low elevens. Are you the second or third hole down on your LCA relocation brackets? I was about a tenth quicker in the eight only going down to the second hole verse the third hole.

The control arm is in the bottom hole on the LCA relocation bracket. Keep in mind that my car is lowered 1.25", so it may need to be in the bottom hole.

That is true it probably does, I am still at factory ride height.

I hate to be a couple weeks late seeing this post.....But us "SLOW" LT1 guys got to give props to each other as we are in the minority here...
Good job....
You going to replace that rear with a dana60 or 9 inch? Maybe 4.1'sh gears...Before you know it you'll be in the 11.5's heading lower...

Good work, with some gear and a better sixty you will have a mid to low 11 sec LT1 easy!

Congrats. Good to see the lt1s are still representing. Sounds like you definitely have a low 11 second car there. I know it's hell trying to drag race with a stick but I'm sure it's loads of fun on the street. If you had an automatic behind all that power, you just may have the makings of a 10 second car.
