Default Experience with MT 28x10.5W's In Heavy, Higher HP Car?

Has anyone ran the 28x10.5W's on a heavy (3400+lb) car with 700+HP? What were your results? Do they last a decent amount of time (realtively speaking)?

Also, would these need tubes or no?

3400-3500 raceweight, easy 1.345's, no tubes here:

But I would just run 28x10.5 stiff's.

Looks great! Any reason why you say to use just the stiff? M/T's reps actually recommended that tire as well over the W too.

How many runs do you get before the sidewalls are gone?

w's are huge. like 12 inches wide or more. 10.5 or 10.5S's should be plenty

28W = 11.5 slick = 13.5 ET Street.

The 28x10.5 stiffs have taken many cars into the low 8's and high 7's.

If plan on sticking with the W's I would run tubes to help stiffen them up other wise 28x10 stiff wall would be the best choice IMO.....

if you wanted to run a wider slick than the standard 10.5, wouldn't the MT ET DRAG 28x11.5 be slightly easier to fit than the 10.5W since it's a little bit narrower?

Agreed to try the 28 x 10.5 stiff slick.

Using it on a 530 rwhp '71 Nova got about 100 runs before the sidewalls were "iffy." Good dot left though...

How would they react to a 4300+lbs car with 1400rwhp? I don't want to tub out my ss so I obiously can't run a wide tire.

FWIW: My 3680lb car did not liuke the stiff sidewall MTs. I switched to a 28x10 hoosier D06 with the standard sidewall and cut a full 1/10 off my 60ft.

Avoid 28W's, no classes allow them. The regular 10.5's get it done.

Threre's alot of cars in the 7's on the 28x10.5s tire, I don't know why anyone would even bother with the W tire anymore to be honest they're been outaw'd for praticially everything except outlaw 10.5 cars, which run the big 33.15.5wx16 tires anyway

If you want a little more tire then the 28x10.5s, run the 29.5x10.5s tire, and make it fit.

4 or 5 years ago when ls1 shootout was in LA, we used a 28/10.5W on our 3450lb TA. Went a best of a 1.26 60ft (9.23@150)
