from center to center of bars is 15"

here is a couple of pics of how it's put in! the two top bars are the ones a said needed to be bent up a little to give some more helmet clearence.

your funny car cage dosen't need to be this wide, i did just for a little more wiggle room.

Are you keeping the AC in it? If not take out the whole box assembly, ducting, and build a cover plate. You'll have a ton more room and loose some weight. If you are keeping it kudos to you as I am also.

I didn't even notice that until you said something.

Well, if it is, you could move your down bar forward some more, to get you some more room up there.

You're going to want to move the down bars on the front forward more, if you don't you'll be hacking into the dash a TON. You actually need it far enough forward on the drivers side that the metal behind the dash needs to be notched, or you'll be well into the actual dash where the pad is, ask me how I know.

If you can redo the top hoop so it's welded on more towards the top of the actual rear halo, and then kick it so it goes up into the t tops a little, the headroom will be greatly increased. Again, ask me how I know.

I'm 6'3 280 and mounted my seats right on the floor in an attempt to get more room, and beacuse my cage wasn't done like I'm saying the head room isn't what I wish it was.

Other then that it's looking good. You're gonna hve a good bit of sheet metal work to get the back all buttoned up, but when it's done you are gonna have a really nice looking setup.

With that suspension you'll be able to run to the bottom of the 8.50 cert with no problems at all.

What size tire are you going to put on the car again? Only limiting factor I see at this point are the stock frame rails, unless you are planning on removing/relocating them.

I am pretty sure he removed them, as he is backhalfing the car. Atleast I think I am on teh right thread maybe not. I will have to go back and check, but I think the whole backhalf of the car is gone, and he has a 4 link rear frame rail setup.....

The pictures that I was looking at appeared that the frame rails were still in the car, but it was hard to tell and an early stage of the build, might have still been in the car for support until everything was welded in.

That's alot of tire. Should be able to hook with that much tire in the parking lot nevermind any prepped starting line.

Haha, right! Should not have ANY problems with that tire. And that is another thing that was not pointed out earlier when everyone kind of starting telling him about the 7's and stock suspension...it is ALOT easier to hook on a big tire like that So, while you can go 7's on a small tire/stock suspension, running a big tire like that with the speeds he is wanting, he should NEVER have a hard time hooking, even on a bad track.

Yeah, look on PG 3 of this thread, and you can get a good shot of his new frame rails.

Yes I see them now. The initial pictures looked like only the center was being cut out, but now I see more has been.

I'm guilty I didn't read very post/see every picture, internet at work was slow today and pic's were taking forever to download.

Looks like it's coming along pretty nicely!

I hear ya! I don't know how many times over teh years, I heard "Why are you doing that?" or "Why would you hack that car up" or whatever. If I would have listened to all the naysayers over the years, my life would probaly have been a little boring
