Nice car! I like how the interior is still presentable.

I'm assuming that you took out the A/C/Heater/ Bumper Supports/Spare Tire and Jack/Back Seats/ Seat Belts/Stock Front Seats/ Door Bar Supports

What else..?

I need to put my car on a diet

Definately one of the cleanest fast SI cars Ive seen. You tend to not see many with motor plates, etc. looks like the car was build with intentions of going even faster

your correct, The cars built for the engine going in it down the road. just thought it would be fun to do SI for a litte bit.

Heres the corner of the hood your talking about. I made it out of either .050 or .060 aluminum. Once I got the top part to fit the opening from fender to winshield, I then welded a 1.5" or so lip on the side that bolts to the fender. Im surprised nobody makes these but at the same time, they almost have to be built for each car because the fenders are in different places from one car to the next. The drivers side is 1/4" shorter so trying to do a one size fits all would be tough. Anyway heres a pic. Hope this helps.

studderin- No problem and hope that helps. The hood will be plenty strong. I would strongly suggest though when taking the hood off get a buddy to help you. Doing this you'll never have a problem.

tx-Thanks and you got a killer setup yourself. Its been cool to see it change over the years to what it is now.

king- I've done a little of everything w/o cutting on the car its self. The things I needed to keep i figured out how to make them lighter. The weight reduction list has a ton of good info and the weights listed are pretty close. I would only go this far on a racecar though. If it was a daily driver I would just deal with the weight.

It also has stock carpet. I hate crappy Ill fitting carpet.

tabbed-its qtp headers with a light weight 3" stainless x-pipe exhaust I made.

thanks everyone for the kind words. Hopefully we can get some 80's out of her before the engine gets changed.

Thanks good to know. I'm going to get a DD soon so I might take a bit out of my car...

I've already deleted the window washer reservoir, spare and jack, back seats and belts...

Car looks really good. I wish I could get my car down to a race weight of 3,085 lbs. I guess I will be stuck at 3,350 lbs. until I figure out how to get more weight out of it.

I noticed the old Ford truck is still parked in the same place as it was when I raced at VMP in May of 2008.

Good luck and most of all have fun with it!

trans is a 4l60e, rear is a 10 bolt. both have work done to them

n2racing, Im sure I could take 300 lbs off that car and give it back to you and you would never know it. Just have to look at every piece on the car with some thought. I can take off an easy 100 more off mine without cutting a single thing or going to lexan.

I bet there's 200 lbs that can come off that car easy, I can see at least 100 in the pictures alone and 1/2 of it you'd never know.

Nice project

I hear you on taking more weight off. One of the things I did wrong at the get go was I used all mild steel parts! Then the 9-inch and the turbo 400 do not help any as far as weight goes.

I have been getting some weight out slowly! I will say this though 300 more lbs off the car would bring the NA ET way down from 10.53 that would be fun!!
