60ft times+315x35x17 nitto 555s extreme drag
What is your best 60ft times with Nitto 555 315x35x17 extreme drag tires. Best I can net is a 1.65 with about 15lbs of air in the tires.
Im trying to get my 60 down and wondering if I have maxed out these tires or if anyone has done better....
please stick to the brand and size to keep things relavent...more importantly size though....brand is secondary.
Thanks,
Pride

Based on the limited info I see is there should be more air in the tires, also the car would benefit from more gear, stall, and I do not know the race weight but that has a HUGE consideration to 60 foot and eventual ET. The weight of a T/A is in general more then a Camaro. My car is tipping it at around 4k+.
I wouldnt suspect your beyond that tire but once you gear and stall the car differently, those short coming may come to light and possible by doing some suspension work (i dont see any listed) should make up for it.

I think a 1.65 on those Nittos is pretty damn good, 15 psi is pretty low for that tire though. You would have much better results with M/T or Hoosier DR's. Hell, any brand would be better. Nittos last the longest on the street and have the least hook at the track.

The only problem that I had with the Nitto 315 DRs is that you need to smoke them for alot longer than a BFG DR, for example, to get them to stick.
Decreases the street life quite a bit.
I don't remember my 60' on that exact tire, but my sweet spot was between 18 and 20 psi.

Tire pressure: I drop it to 15 but after I heat them up and run, by the time I get back around tire pressure is at 19?
So are you saying start at 18?
I have tired several different pressures and the 15-18 works the best.
As far as stall...I have a 3600 (I think that is listed), and as far as gear I just feel that that is just going to make it harder for me to hook up.
Plus now I am running a 100 shot as soon as I feel it hook up, and my 60's are the exact same thing spraying 10 ft out of the hole as opposed to not spraying at all.
Thanks,
Pride

"why are you running such a wide tire"......bc 315s look sick....and If I could 335s on ther I would....and yeah I know Im loosing power bc a friend of my switched from stock rims on a mustang to the exact same rims and tires I have and he lost 30 rwhp.
So pretty much I've got these tires maxed out.... I'm thinking I need a different tire and rim to get into the 1.5s
Aint's skeered, what elevation are you at bc you and I are making the same power and you are cutting a little better 60' than I am, and I ran a 7.012 at 100 mph and a 10.92 at 126 mph with a 1.66'.
Thanks,

My personal opinion is a 28" tall Bias Ply on a 15 x 10 rim with a little work will do wonders. Some have gotten a Radial to work and work VERY well but again these caliber of cars are not what the majority of Street/Strip cars are.
I am faced with the same Delemia and if I get a drag rim combo, that clears stock brakes w/o heavy grinding and being the 10" wide rim is a Bogart which is actually 9" and change. But properly backspaced.

I dont have nitrous any more on it because I went through 4 spec 3 clutches and slipped a spec 3+ . They live on motor so I left it at that.
I dont really race the car anymore, thats what my Nova is for.

11.38 on motor....that is freakn awesome....best I can net is 11.60 at 116 mph.....And just how did you accomplish this? skinnies? slicks? ported intake and tb? weight reduction?
I mean you dont have to give away your secret but it would be nice.
My 11.6 was in a full weight car with heavy *** 17" rims on the front and back.

Those times were with my old ls6 intake and ported tb. Mac headers and putting down 422/410 tq. I was on skinnies front, stock 16 in wheels with m/t drag radials. I had 4.30 gears leaving at 6500 rpm and hitting the gears just right.
I did change to ported fast with nw 90 tb. gained mph but never did better then 11.42 as I started having clutch issues. Messed up my shifting.
However , In street trim with the 17's all around on Nittos I ran 11.59@121.
I just went in November with my lq4 in street trim to 11.61 at 122 with only a 1.76 60 ft. This was at arm drop live leaving on a pro tree.
