rear bump stops really needed?
So Im in wondering if rear bump stops are really needed? The ones in my 95 z are so dryrot that they have fallen off. I have a moser 9", LCA, SFC, PHB, relocation brackets, QA1 rear shocks, stock z springs, Spohn 1" swaybar, 15x8 welds w/ 28x11.5 M/T et streets. Will the car really come down to the bumpstops with this setup? I see alot of people cutting them to fit tires, which makes me think if I really should new ones. They are $50+ for new ones at the dealer and have to be special ordered.
Any advice would be great

Well is the second part of the problem, my rear is a 3rd gen Moser 9". When I set it up I mounted the brakeline brackets on top of the axle tube not planning to well. Its already to go into this 95 z28 when I noticed that it may contact the bump stop if it really squats. See the pic. It is only about an inch tall. But other wise I will need to remove the rear again cut the brackets off and re-weld in a new spot. Then I will need to make some new brake lines.
How close will the body come to hitting the axle tube? I figure the shocks will bottom out first, correct?

A properly set up drag car will not squat enough to hit the bump stops. But if it is not set up right then it could use the bump stops. In your case I would probably try to move the brake lines just to be sure.

Same thing was happening to me, i pulled the bumpstops yesterday and it feels MUCH better. I was really hoping they would weigh more then they did though.... I hope nobody is pulling them for weight reduction!!
