Default How to hit 11s with bolt ons

Mods: Vig3200, trans go shift kit, ls6 intake, p&p throttle body, hooker Lts, ory with moroso spiral flow dumped before axel, 15" wheels with 15x8 Et streets out back. Best the car went was 12.78 @ 105 with 1.75 short time.

I am adding a pt4400and getting it tuned tomorrow. I am going to shift it at 5900. What else can I do besides gears to help hit 11s SI? I was thinking Lca and relocation brackets. Any advice/opinions would be great.

weight reduction, get the 60' down more. I am not sure how high you should shift, idk where power would fall off with just boltons

+1 Mph seems low are you tuned for your mods? What elevation and DA was your run at? You can use drag times density altitude calculator to find out. I was trapping 110mph with Lid, p&p tb, ls6, LT's, true duals, 2800 TC, 3.73's on MT et's. But that was with a efi live tune for my mods...

Easiest way to hit 11's SI is weight reductions and full susp/ slicks/ skinnies to dead hook that bitch...

QA1 front shocks would help.

I think to run 11.9x you will need to hit 112-ish mph.

I'd also try to shift at 6000-6100. Make sure that the combo does not shortshift otherwise you will run low mph and only run mid 12's. The shiftpoints will probably need touching up with the PT4400.

We use to stall that converter up two footing, great converter.

back in '03 when i was still SI, with bolt-ons (macs/ORY/vig3600) i ran 11.8 @ 111 w/ 1.6 60'. i had grandsports up front and salad shooters with BFG dr's. the only lb reduction i had was no backseat and took out my driver seat and replaced it with the passenger side. so basically not much weight.

Yes the 105 mph isnt what I am looking for. I know vigs arent known for there mph tho. The car hasnt been tuned at all. Its usually pretty humid around here during summer.

Sometimes even with this smaller stall it chatters the tires off the line. I am sure qa1s would help. Mph is going to tell the whole story tho.
Ive lost 75lbs in wheels/tires, took the catback off 40lbs, sway bar and spare tire/jack.

you need to move your shift point up some.. i would go to around 6150 with the limiter set at around 6400-6500..

take weight out..

make sure you are dead hooking on a small tire..

a set of 373s is going to help you a lot..

I dont want to do gears untill after a cam. Even then I'd rather wait untill the 10 bolt broke. Lca and relocation brackets are fairly cheap. That should help me dead hook.

for 150$ you can have gears... and if it knocks off 2/10s... well worth it to me..

but its your car!

Remember what I told you about the shift points with that stock cam. Is there any way your tuner could come to the track so you can adjust the points while there and make some passes to see what it likes?

I got a nice 10 bolt that will buy you some time too instead of dumping $2200 on a 12 bolt or 9".

Now if I could install gear by myself then that would be a deal!

Yea hes willing to come to the track. Got the converter in tonight 1-2 shift is a little low and falls down to about 5k but 2-3 is close to 5900 and it doesnt fall down as far. Unfortunatly I wont have it tuned for the track tomorrow but I'll see what happens.

find someone that is wanting to get a higher gear (323s 273s etc..) or going back to stock..

tell them you will trade, do the work, and give them 100$... just test their rear end out before you get it.. just trying to help think of ideas to get you into the 11s..

I would also try installing a cutout, or removing that spiral flow. I have had reports of that muffler losing considerable hp when used on a single exhaust setup. It may be worth a try.
