Default LNC-003 clutch switch hook up questions.

Got my 2 step today. Couple of questions. Got the shop manuals out and I cannot find anywhere the clutch switch wires go to the pcm. Car is a 98 so not sure if it is different then the above years. Also, LPE said alot of guys wire it to a separate clutch switch, how are they doing that? He said they add a second clutch swith??? Got me on that one. One more question looking thru the shop manual it looks like I could use the reverse shift prohibitor solenoid for the 2nd rpm limiter. I have found the pcm wire for that one and LPE thinks that should work. The guy on the phone did not seem to want to help me out so I figured I would ask in here. Thanks.

I think the clutch switch issues is that some people don't hold the clutch pedal on the floor when they stage and that is the only time the clutch switch completes the circuit when you have it on the floor. So adding a switch that completes the circuit when you let the pedal out would be the way to hook it up.

How are they adding a second clutch switch? I think I might go off the cruise control module.

Why not just hook it up to the factory clutch wire?? I did look and the pin out for the 98 does not have a clutch swith wire to the pcm. The 99 and up ones do. Damn these 98 cars.

What about a mirco switch under the clutch pedal? Just run a 12+ wire to one side of the micro switch and then from the switch to 85 on the relay. Thats the same thing that the stock 99 and up do. Then you can avoid digging thru the pcm wires.

I want this to be simple. It is only 1 wire hook up. I will either go directly off the switch itself or the cruise contol module under the hood and be done with it. My prefered method was the pcm. I just not sure the wire for the 98. I really don't think the 98 pcm has one for the switch.

Just to make sure I'm understanding you correctly. I have a 00' m6 and I can just mount my LNC-002 on the passenger side inner fender and simply run the 12v source directly to the clutch switch wire in the pcm instead of running it into the car?

On the 99 and up yes you can. The 98 doesn't have the pcm pinout for the clutch switch.

You would run your green wire to that pcm pinout. Ground completes the circuit not 12v.

I noticed in your pics that you mounted the unit pretty close to your linelock solenoid. I would be careful doing that. I've heard of people mounting them close to nitrous solenoids and that caused a voltage spike that went back through their pcm and fried them. I've got the same setup you have with the linelock on the drivers side, but I mounted my launch controller on the passenger side and haven't had a problem. Something you might want to check out before you get too far along.

I did notice that and the instructions say at least 6" away from eachother. So I should be ok. Also I got the diode for this very reason and put as close to the solenoid as possible.

Ok, cool. Just makin sure. Good luck with the install. It was kind of a pain in the *** when I did mine. I have it hooked up to the clutch switch just like you're doing.

03 BUSA did you wire your 2-step and line lock using the LPE instructions? I'm trying to figure out how exactly the system will work when wired this way. Will the 2 step be deactived when the momentary switch for the line lock is used?

I did not tie the 2 step into the LL anywhere. Just into the clutch switch. All I did with the LL solenoid was add LPE diode inbetween the power and ground like they told me to.

Found a new way to hook this kit up. For the guys that do not want to push the clutch pedal all the way to the floor to shift and have a abs delete kit or don't use the cruise control. You can cut the clutch anticipate switch wires and run one side to a ground and the other side to the green wire on the LPE kit. And if done right you can always put the wires back in the future if you wanted to.

Just did one for a customer. We just hooked a relay off the clutch peddle-top switch. Then a micro switch at the shifter that makes the 2-step only work in 1st gear.Pretty simple to do.
