Default Jegs or Summit offbrand Prostars?

I've got a set of the Summit stars in the front because the Welds are so expensive, now I'm looking for a set for the rear that I can put with a different Backspacing (5.5).

The only bad this that I noticed is the wheels take an "acorn" style lugnut instead of the "shank" style.

Do they no make it to where you could run with a shank style? Just seems a lot safer that way to me, or no?

in my opinion the shank style is better cuz it supports the stud better than the acorn style u could find a pair of used welds 4 cheap like i did but be careful cuz people will try and sell u a bent wheel ive got pro stars on my bird and i love em they do cost a lil more but they r a higher quality wheel

I have used my stock lugs as well as a set of Summit acorns with my Summit wheels for numerous track passes and street miles with no ill effects whatsoever.

word to the wise the summit/jegs stars cheap knock offs are not sfi approved so if you ever start going into the 9s and get inspected you will end up looking for new wheels

No they don't make the right backspacing for a stock F-Body length rear, however I run a 5.5 backspacing.

I called Tech Support and told them what my car usually 60fts and he said that the Summit/Jegs brand with acorn style lug nuts is just asking for trouble (Which I kinda figured anyway)

They recommended going with the Welds so that I can run the shank style, just letting everyone else know.

I was just wanting to make sure before I spent the big money on the Welds over the Summit/Jegs style.

So if your race weight is 3,500lbs and you cut low 1.30 60's they recommend going to Welds over their own brand

Can someone explain what shank lug nuts are and the difference between acorn? Do the acorn style center the wheel on the studs?
