Default Can you remove window motors?

I'm looking to remove as much weight from my car as possible for a drag only application, and I'm wondering if you can remove the window motors but have the windows remain closed?

Of course...Multiple ways... 1st thought comes to mind is weld the regulator in the "up" position then remove the motors... Make sure your glass is adjusted properly or you'll be....f**ked

the motor itself cant weigh that much, if you have to use the factory regulator to keep the window up, i'd say you may save a pound, maybe 2 per side. not worth it to me but to each their own.

^^ I agree, if you are going to save weight go lexan and remove the entire assembly and save weight of the glass

Yeah I see your point for it not being very much weight loss, I'll give a little more backstory haha.

Both my window motors are shot in this car and are allowing the windows to sag down, which is really annoying going down the track, and I'd rather not replace them if I don't have to. Since this car is drag race only, all I need are for the windows to stay up. What are my options?

Lexan windows are definately an option for the future, but right now the money is going towards parts that are more "bang for your buck".

just pull the regulator, remove the motor, and somehow wedge/bolt/weld a stop in it so the regulator is fully up. might make reinstalling a little tough buts its doable. just make sure you put something in the regulator so the spring doesn't unclock when you remove the motor.

are you sure your windows are adjusted properly? you can adjust the height they close at with the one slotted 10mm nut on the door. search for a write up or pull the panel and mess with it yourself.

i bought manual regulators off of a guy on here. It gets hot in the staging lanes, geared up and helmet on, I have to be able to roll the driver window down at least, just a thought, and a remedy for you.
