Question anybody running a 4.33 gear with 28in drag radials?

i am thinking about running going to a 4.33 gear instead of my 3.90s when i switch from my 26in slicks to a 28in hoosier drag radial. i shift at 6500 but have the rev limiter set at 6800. I dont care if i have to go past 6500 in 3rd through the traps. how much would i be leaving on the table if i stayed with the 3.90s? im guessing i will trap around 130 but no more. i have a mid size cam and a 150 shot.

I was just about to hit my 6800 limiter with 4.30's and 28's...right at the 1/4 stripe...

Drag radial or slick? - DR's will not grow & slicks will grow around an inch or more.

What size stall & efficiency? - A loose converter cancause the N2O to blow right through and hurt you times. The efficientcy could slip the rpms more and not make it through the 1/4.

What MPH? You can use the crossing rpm and mph to figure the efficiency of the converter.

The reason for these questions are you have to set-up everything just right. The combo above sounds like what I had before: N/A, 4.30 gear, 28" ET Drags, 4600 rpm stall. It would cross the 1/4 at 121-122mph / 6700-6800rpm.

I'm not an expert on N2O, but I don't think a 4.33 gear and a 28" drag radial is going to get you past 123 mph without being on the 6800 rev limiter. I would stick with the 3.90's and see how it does before changing them out. What did it mph/rpm with the 26" slicks?

I've done both radials and slicks. I prefer the slicks. M6 car here doing about 114 on best non-nitrous pass with a 1.63 (i think) 60' - launched it HARD ). This was on stock cam running 12.16. I've since replaced cam and ended up needing to replace the posi . . . . twice . . .

From my experience Vig converters are looser than advertised which may give you some issues blowing through the converter.

With a 275 Hoosier I cross the traps at 7600 and 140mph. But I have a 8in ATI converter that is real efficient.
