firebird headlight delete??

Default firebird headlight delete??

I tried searching but didn't come up with anything. I have a 98 trans am that I'm building for the track only and I want to remove the headlights for weight and ill never use them anymore. Has anyone done this and could give a few pointers an maybe some pics

Pull them out they are heavy.Then take the painted covers off and put them back in with some aluminum brackets to hold them in place.I did this several years ago on my car,also took the door mirrors off and made a delete plate for the hole that is left there. Less wind resistence.

6LITEREATER is making up some covers. I asked him about making some aluminum brackets and he suggested that a better idea wouold be to make a mold and make some plastic covers with tabs to screw into the frame with sheetmetal screws. Weight would be practically nothing. Last I heard he is trying to find covers to make a mold from.

Im at the shop now tring to fab something up, That would be pretty sweet to have some plastic ones!

I didnt know 6litereater was trying to make these. Hope he finds some covers. I could send mine if he doesnt find any.

Hmmm, plastic covers are a good idea! I welded mine to the car using some long bolts that I cut to make poor man's round bar out of I have pics in my build thread.

Does anybody make a hood that includes this area on the front - eliminate 'em completely and make 'em part of the front of the hood???
