I got the cooler in and took it for a ride today for about twenty miles of highway with some mild city driving. Right out of the gate it was a whole bunch cooler. I could only get twenty miles in due to throwing a belt.
After this drive I only got to about 180 when I arrived home. I would normally be around 220 plus. I still believe that I have a problem with something due to how the transmission and converter feel in the upper rpm's. Feels like it is slipping alot while in boost.

Ive got a TH400 with a 5K converter and 4.11s in the rear. My tranny temps stay pretty cool. There's a couple of us that use this cooler from Summitracing. Its one of their house brands but its big and works great. After a pass at the track, when i return from the pass the cooler is still cool to the touch. Even after highway driving you can place your hand on the cooler and its tolerable.

Heres a pic of it on my car.

I wish it was but it feels like I'm pushing thru the converter. I hope it's just that I have a mismatched valvebody and pump (like Greg @ FTI suggested). I still have that gear that should have been there by now (3.5 ring and pinion) to install when it gets here.

Maybe, do a data log, then do the math, and see what you are getting for slip?? That way, if/when you go converter shopping, you have some data to discuss.

Brand new converter I'm not going shopping. Converter has already been sent back to get inspected by FTI. All was good on their end.
I found ut why I am throwing belts also, I have a broke power steering pump bracket allowing the pulley to pull forward.

Yes you are correct. After I get it up and running again and get the 3.5 gear along with a new valvebody or transmission (spare known good transmission I have for another car) then I will look at that. I have talked with Greg at FTI and he assures me that it is not the converter as he has already inspected it. He also built it for my build.
First I have to find a power steering bracket so I can drive the car again. I also awoke to a wrecked family car that someone did a hit and run on last night

ive had similar problems with mine as well i had a derale cooler with a fan built on to it. i was seeing 200+ with 20+ mins of st driving. i just installed an indenticall cooler next to it to see if that would help. I was suprised cus i thought the first cooler was plenty with the fan on full blow but i guess not, they are expensive coolers so i hope this does the trick ![Smokin](https://ls1tech.com/forums/images/smilies2/smokin.gif)
