Default drag car exhaust setups

Hey just wondering what all you guys are running as your exhaust setups for the track? Now that my car doesnt see the street anymore im debating on just running open headers or going with a true dual with dumps....what do ya'll run? What is the loudest true dual setup they offer?

Edelbrock stepped headers 13/4" to 17/8" with a 31/2" collector. This goes into dual 31/2" to 3" reducers then an x pipe and bullets with turn downs.

I would like to get some Borla X1 mufflers and extend the exhaust out the back.

If it has an X-Pipe it isn't true duals... BUT yeah.

I just run an x-pipe, two short 16" bullet mufflers and turndowns at the axle. (for noise reduction)

I know a couple guys running straight headers 1 7/8th to 3" or 3 1/2" collector and a couple others who run straight pipes off those headers up to the axle or so just to get the exhaust away from the cabin. Guess it's all on personal preference

thats what i was thinking about doing, a 3" straight pipe off each header dumped right before the axle

If you have to have mufflers, a super 44 fits well under the seats of the car. I ran a 1 7/8 stepped to 2 inch header with the 3.5 inch collectors, and 3.5 inch pipe back to the super 44. Then, about 16 inches of pipe after the muffler, also 3.5 inch and a dump.

2 seperate pieces, no X or H, and the car ran within less then a tenth at the track with it on or off. I had the motor solid mounted, and the exhaust was tucked right up on the floor, clearance was really good for a system as big as it was.

It was quiet enough to drive on the street too if I wanted to.

Running mufflers isnt a concern, just basically looking for the loudest and best flowing setup I can do

In that case put a turndown off the headers and call it a day. Unless you have a need for any additional pipe off the collector to make an O2 sensor work or something along those lines, run nothing. The turndown, isn't even needed, it will just keep the undercarriage from getting sooted up from the exhuast.

As long as you have no muffler rule go for it. I built my setup just so I knew the car would be quiet enough to run at etown.

JL turns out I will have to run a muffler, I forgot how strict etown is, but im looking to have just a 3" collector from each header with maybe a spiral flow muffler with a dump under the seat, im looking for something that will flow good and be as loud as possible, i just need a "muffler" to pass

Spiral flow isn't going to pass. You need a chambered muffler.

Here's a picture of what I had built on my car, it's 3.5 inch pipe, 2 super 44 mufflers... this worked @ etown with absolutely no problems, and didn't slow the car down at all.

hows it sound with that setup?? I loved how mine sounded on a 3" Y pipe with a cutout but I really want to ditch the Y and my catback for something like this but still want something loud

It's loud. Alot deeper toned then the typical ls exhaust. I went from a qtp Y pipe with a LM1 to this, and it got a TON deeper with this, and was toned back enough so I could drive it if I wanted to without any headaches.

I thought it sounded killer, and I never had anyone say anything otherwise.

Whole setup is here with the headers too... if you wanted to buy it I probably could be talked into it I doubt it's going to fit the car when I get it back together anyway.

haha I would but I still have my old exhaust sitting here on the car that I need to get rid of first.... I just wish I could still have the same loudness of the cutout but running a similar setup like urs, with different mufflers... I never knew bullets wouldnt pass at etown
