You are starting with a much heavier vehicle with the G8 and the CTS-V then an F-Body.
Independent rears to start with create added hurdles to overcome.
The F-Body will be less expensive and easier to build.

Well I'm no newbie in the world of custom fab and have a shop with some good equipment my biggest prob is time I don't have alot of free time and I figured it would be easier with an fbody I kinda like the wow factors and I haven't seen that before reaction. I have a buddy who is selling his 02 ss already caged,9" rear built motor no2. I could pick it up for around 10k but I would sell the motor and biuld a lsx type with all pro heads still debating on alot of this thats why I did this post

Kinda what I'm starting to think from what I've read on here there I'm sure it won't be hard my friends has a running driving car but will still change the setup the cage is only six point would need some add ons done, I also think it's mild steel my other car has cromoly. I also would like swing outs considering I want to keep it for the most part streetable

The foundation of any car is important and the lighter you can get it the better. Which also allows you to put ballast where you need it (class specific req.) or you may not need to make as much power (wear and tear) to get the same result.
