Default Driveshaft safety loop recomendations?

I found this one from JEGS to be the cheapest new,

http://www.jegs.com/i/Jegster/550/40...oductId=757228

But don't want to buy it if its just a POS flimsy thing that doesn't fit right or hits the driveshaft. Anybody use this one? How critical is a stiff tunnel brace for drag or road racing applications? The stock one is very flimsy, and Im looking to really stiffen up the chassis. I am going to be getting Midwest Chassis 2 point SFCs too. Its between this $40 one from JEGS or one from BMR or UMI, but dont want to spend the extra $80 if it isnt absolutely necessary. Also considering the Midwest Chassis one for $90, but it looks like it doesnt add any rigidity to the chassis either. Im running a 3.5 inch Chromoly driveshaft.

I picked UMI which is very similar to BMR due to the loop is elongated on the top and bottom so more like a oval now. Gives sufficent room for D/S travel. I run a 3" unit and wanted to ensure no fitment issues.

I run the lakewood one, it doesnt look as pretty but I was very happy with the ground clearance and exhaust clearance. The fact that it goes over the exhaust instead of under is great.

I personally like the Lakewood one. It's a 2 piece design so you don't have to mess with taking off your driveshaft, it's decently cheap, and from what I've read, works with most LT setups.

No they are light, nhra/ihra certified. They bolt around the driver shaft if you dont want to pull the drive shaft off to install it. Its very flat and keeps ground clearance and goes above the exhaust so you dont get that annoying rattle from the exhaust bouncing down on the loop.

the only thing to remember is if you end up going with an aftermarket torque arm, you will have wasted your money on the lakewood one etc...i was about to buy this exact one yesterday and my buddy reminded me of this exact issue. just make sure you know what your futrure mods will be

Yea I already have a bmr adjustable torque arm and the umi torque arm relocation bracket, just need a driveshaft loop. The sfcs I'm getting are not 3 point so I have nothing structural tying into the middle support, that's why I was looking at the beefy umi or bmr or spohn ones, but if I don't need any extra support tying that middle area together I'll just get a cheap one like the Lakewood.

I have all UMI suspension but went with midwest chassis DS loop. Fits great and has the best clearance of any ive seen for exhaust.

http://www.midwestchassis.com/driveshafts--loops.html

I did have to move my transmission tail shaft over one bolt hole to the right in the mount to get the DS to clear the loop but thats where the tailshaft sat natually so no big deal.

most are 15-19 pounds thats alot.

I have the BMR one, clears my full lenghts TA, and my 4inch Ypipe, just had to grind a little 45* were the Y pipe in tubes were close. So it hads 1/4-3/8 room and never hit.

19lbs holy crap that's heavy, I'm still trying to offset the weight of my 9" and new suspension, I feel like 19lbs is unnecessary, I'm leaning closer to the Lakewood now, that looks lighter but I could be wrong

Yea, don't they make an aluminum one or something? I feel like it shouldn't weigh more than 6 lbs

well i can see why the would be made of steel for strength, im sure if the DS broke it would take an aluminum safetly loop right out.

the lakewood i would bet weighs have has much as the BMR or UMI ones. Its just strap steel and no heavy tubular mounts or thick loop. I would believe mine to weigh in around 8-10.

The one MWC sells tucks up nice and tight. Seems like it will clear any exhaust setup. Here's mine, sorry it's not a real good picture but the bracket hugs the tunnel.

Better pic from MWC

How much would you say the MWC one weighs?
