Default Shake down passes w/Patriot heads

A few weeks ago I went 11.45 @ 118 (1.62), full weight (3500ish), nittos, and no skinnies, running pig rich.

Foreward to Yesterday...pulled out about #150 of dead weight, put the drag wheels on, and leaned it out a little. DA was -365.

First pass...

1.522
7.102
95.53
11.170
120.90

Other passes

11.237 @ 119.63 (1.51), 11.200 @ 120.36 (1.51), 11.226 @ 119.95 (1.52)

Overall I'm pretty happy w/these heads considering what I paid ($995). Looking at my trap speeds from my cam only runs it looks like I picked up about 30hp. Next time out I will bring the laptop and lean it out untill I get KR and back it off a little, I know I can go faster.

PS: I really need more gear to get the max out of the car.

Wouldn't pulling 150lbs and cutting a tenth off of your 60 ft times be responsible for ~.25 of the .28 gain? Not to mention the tuning.

and then again some of the .1 in the 60ft could be from some added hp/torque?

Overall the Patriot HEADS appear to be performing well for your car. For the money, your performance is outstanding. Also, the sixty foot is pretty good. I would definitely considered getting some bigger gears to optizied your quarter mile run. Cheers and good luck.

Read his sig, he ran 11.377 @ 117.61 (1.54), cam only, so a 1.54 was doable with cam only type power. Again, I'm not "bashing" just questioning. It doesn't look like much was gained with the heads, at least from these times compared to his past cam only times. But then again, those were "shakedown" passes, he may run better with more tuning/runs.

Thanks everyone.

Spanky, I was basing my 30hp estimate from looking at the mph from my cam only pass. I think at this level you need more than 10hp to gain a tenth. And as far as the 60 ft time goes, the tires were moving a little on the rim, need screws. Best 60 cam only was 1.50.

Also, it hasn't been dyno tuned. My lockup clutch is slipping at anything over 3/4 throttle. IMO any dyno numbers through this converter unlocked are inconclusive. I'll stick to tuning at the track.

Great job man!
The entire package is performing great!
4.10s will probably get you tens. (I would invest in a 12 bolt though before swapping gears)

-400ft isnt good air?

Most decent ported heads will get 25-30rwhp and thats where you are at looking at the mph - excellent numbers from your combo - congrats.

LOL...I found that out the hard way, broke a set of 3.73s already.

I was thinking a 12-bolt w/3.90s. Now I just need some money.

I saw MARK tonight and POWERHOUSE PERFORCMANCE in Orland Park and will congratulate him again here on a truly amazing performing sleeper H/C Z28 which could win ALOT OF $ on the street. DUDE, all you need are those 4.10 gears and you are in the 10s my friend with good air and a lil old cam upgrage would not hurt to say the TSP 231/237 and you have yourself a 10.7/10.8 heads/cam car ultimate sleeper street/strip machine! I/m sure JOHN AND CHRIS at PHP wouldn't mind flycutting those stock pistons a tad!!

Congrats.

A 12 bolt and 4.10 gears are what you need.
