Default Whats needed to get a m6 02 firehawk into the 12.80 range

What would it take to get a stock 3.42 m6 firehawk into the 12.8 range?

Longtubes, ORY, Catback (not flowmaster), lid, tune, and drag radials should get an 02 into the 12's some cars can even break 12's with just the drag radials but the other mods would ensure you get there

what he said ^ but to expand a bit good "density altitude" learn what it is and only plan on getting great times when da conditions are favorable like well below sea level, in my area over the next few months it shouldnt be hard to find 1,000 to 1500 below sea level but anything below sea level should get you in spitting distance- several documented cases of stock m6 cars getting into the 12's

When I went to the Sacramento raceway a few years back when my 2000 Trans Am had nothing but a magnaflow cat back I was pulling 13.3's all night long @ 111mph. My limiting factor that kept me out of the 12's was my stock tires. I tried a ton of different launch techniques that night, and the best I could pull were 2.2 and 2.3 60ft's. The car would spin through first gear and partially in the beginning of second gear everytime. Didn't matter if I feathered the gas, rolled out a few feet then laid into it, or revved it up high and dumped the clutch, it was the same story. Once I got on the gas in first the tires would just start spinning. If I had a good set of tires I would have cut a few high 12's. It was like trying to launch on ice or an oil slick. If those tires could have just hooked, even rolling a few feet off the line to get going and then softly laying into it gradually into full throttle it would have been easy.

open LTs, airlid, used up M/T 26x11.5s
5400rpm launch

Wasn't a super nice day out either, it corrects to 12.6 or something I believe.

OP, please excuse my response as it may seem like a smart response. What kind of times are you currently running, and what setup do you currently have?

your response was fine Jake. Your in the business of selling parts and didnt jump right to trying to sell him parts but rather mentioned his goals were possible without spending money just by making sure driving technique and going with favorable weather conditions .

Where will you be racing the car ? gives us an ideaof the built in altitude and weather your facing , hopefully your not in Denver lol

DR would be enough if you can drive and the weather (DA) is good.

When I ran 13.1~13.2 @ 107~108 bone stock my 60fts were 2.19 to 2.25. DA was 127ft.

I don't have acr yet but I'm looking at several. I want to add mods that I can easily return to stock down the road if I decide to. Is it an advantage to change the air lid if the car comes with the Donaldson Blackwing lid already? Does a gear swap (4.10 or 3.73) help much on a bolt on only car? I would like to do LT's, ORY, good sounding y pipe back exhaust with a factory firehawk look; I'm looking for a deep sound that is not terribly loud. Any good tuners in Cincinnati? Thanks for any input.

I would have to say no, that lid from the factory is just as good as an aftermarket lid, with the advantage of great fitment. Keep it! Either set of gears would give you a little more performance, and like stated earlier, lts and ory would work great and add to overall performance gains. If you have any questions about that kind of stuff, shoot me a pm or even give us a call!
